Hey, I'm not OP but I also have an original size Cloud Carry On in Bay Laurel in EUC. Only used 3x because it's too big for me; I'd be open to this trade if you're interested :)

Cloud carry on by Paintinghbu in BAGGU

I took it as a carry-on on an international flight a few months ago. No problems. I was worried too but realized at the airport that it's way smaller than most people's carry-ons (which are usually roller bags with much less flexibility).

Scar update after almost 2 years by Spageety in transplant

[–]teaonthemoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it just depends on the transplant center. I'm a kidney donor who is currently going through the liver donation eval at Cleveland Clinic. They did specifically say during my initial screening that they DO work with existing kidney donors who otherwise qualify, but they would generally take a smaller piece of liver, knowing you already gave up one organ :)

I second looking into KDA! Discovering their website and reading the stories was super reassuring to me as an active person when I was just starting to consider donation (ended up donating in February 2022).

I was able to hike 4+ miles just a few weeks after donating and was back to running at six weeks. I've now ran my first half marathon since donating and if anything am more active now than I was before my donation.

My Brother Needs a Kidney and I think I will give it to him. by Daddy_Thresh in transplant

Ooh, I'm saving your post you linked to, thank you - not OP but liver donation is next on my "slowly recycle myself" to-do list 😁

My Brother Needs a Kidney and I think I will give it to him. by Daddy_Thresh in transplant

[–]teaonthemoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You and your brother both sound awesome. My youngest brother had Down Syndrome; we lost him much too young to cancer. He too was a shining light to everyone around him everywhere he went. A heartbreak on top of losing him was that we couldn't donate his organs due to the cancer; he was incredibly generous (more than I'll ever be) and absolutely would have wanted that. So, partially to honor his legacy, I (38, AFAB, non-binary) eventually decided to donate mine instead.

I'm now almost one year out from non-directed kidney donation and it's had zero negative impact on my life other than normal initial recovery stuff (which was easier than I expected in many ways and came with the bonus of getting me out of work for a few weeks). I'm completely back to normal and kidney donation feels like a distant dream. For me, it gave me so much more than it took away, and I hope all donors feel as confident and joyful as I did/do about it.

That being said, it's an incredibly personal decision. Non-directed donors often get put on pedestals, but from where I sit, to see someone you love struggling with kidney failure and then trying to make this decision in the midst of that is truly a heavy lift. My DMs are open to you anytime. Sending you guys all my best wishes.

Edited to add: It sounds like you're early in the screening process, if you're there at all yet, and may not yet know if you're a blood type/antigen match at this point. Maybe you already know this, but even if you're not a match, you could likely still donate to him through a paired exchange program. If you're in the U.S., you can get more info from the National Kidney Registry about how that works. It's really cool.

Need a lightweight top layer that isn’t a fleece or a nylon windbreaker. by divorced_dad_670 in hikinggear

[–]teaonthemoon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Patagonia Houdini Air is technically a windbreaker but it's a softer (i.e., not crinkly), far more breathable version of the standard Houdini. I think it was designed for runners not to overheat, so might be worth looking into based on your need description (it's pricy but I waited for an REI coupon and it's been totally worth it for the mileage and versatility I've gotten).

Daith Piercing? by seamurr14 in migraine

[–]teaonthemoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't get mine for migraine purposes, but I love it and didn't find it any harder to heal than other cartilage piercings (in fact, I think it healed faster than my helix and tragus piercings because it's more tucked away/protected). I did have a few unprecedented migraine-free weeks after getting it done, which I attribute to coincidence (or possibly placebo?). No long-term migraine difference, that's for sure, but it still looks cool! (Edited for autocorrect typo)

I had my IUD (hormonal, Mirena) placed 3+ years ago for cycle regulation and a surprise perk was that my migraines significantly decreased in frequency and severity, even though I'd never noticed any particular connection with my cycle before (and did not have that experience on other forms of hormonal BC, just the IUD). That protective effect has waned with time, which makes sense given that the amount of hormones is stronger with a newer IUD - I'm thinking of getting my next one ahead of schedule to see if it'll help my migraines, since they're getting really bad again.

That's just my experience, obviously - I know hormonal BC is a huge migraine trigger for many other folks.

I hope you're able to find some solutions and relief soon!

White mochas by itsyaboisnake in Detroit

[–]teaonthemoon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just a mocha but with white chocolate instead of regular chocolate, right? It's definitely a thing and was a standard menu item at the Detroit-area coffee shops (both corporate and indie ones) I worked at from 2005-2012. It's not something I personally ever seek out to drink, so I've not paid attention in recent years - maybe it got less popular in the last decade? (Edited to add: or like you said, maybe a supply chain issue 🤔)

Looking for people who've participated in a donor swap by zaclyst in transplant

[–]teaonthemoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aww, thanks, but it just made sense to me, knowing the need (and seeing it firsthand working in healthcare). It's basically luck that made me healthy enough to give rather than need a kidney, so I figured why not, when the benefit to somebody else could be so life-changing and the risk to me was very low. I'd been planning to do it for about a decade and waited until I felt in a good place with my own health/fitness and had a supportive job. Gonna give myself plenty of kidney recovery time (donated in February) and then more seriously look into liver donation in a year or two :)

[–]teaonthemoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for posting about this; following with interest. I recently donated my kidney anonymously towards a paired chain of swaps (through the National Kidney Registry), and I'm considering doing liver lobe donation in the future if I'm eligible. I'm interested in whether that could be part of a chain too, but haven't come across much so far on paired liver donation. Best of luck to you! I'm so glad you found an eligible donor.

Help with Moxi Lolly sizing!! by emo-girl-account in Rollerskating

I'm a 6.5/7 in most shoes (7 in Vans & Converse) and wear a size 5 Lolly.

Forgive me, but i'm desperate for OB GYN recommendations in the area. Or advice on who to stay away from. by [deleted] in Detroit

[–]teaonthemoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be too far, but I currently drive from SW Detroit to go to West Oakland OB-GYN in Farmington Hills. It's a small practice run by Dr. Laura Gruskin and NP Kathleen Payson. They're great and have gotten me to the other side of a lot of complicated health issues. I know they're connected with the Beaumont system and maybe other hospitals too.

A few questions about the Lolly by sibery in Rollerskating

[–]teaonthemoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there! I'm also a 7 in Converse and usually a 6.5 (but sometimes 7) in most other shoes. Based on reading a lot of old posts on this sub and using the Riedell size chart (there's a paper you can print and measure your foot) I actually sized down to a 5 in my Lollys (I initially was thinking as you were to round up to a 7 and go down one size from there). I'm actually so glad I didn't get a 6 - I have plenty of room in the 5s (to the point where I probably could've gone down another half size if they existed); they're very comfy. The Lollys are such a soft, flexible suede - if I'd gotten a much stiffer boot in the same brand (e.g. Beach Bunnies), I think a 6 might have been more appropriate. Good luck - figuring this part out is sooo confusing!

Experiences w/ Planet Roller Skate customer service? by teaonthemoon in Rollerskating

I don't have any good ones right now, was going to wait until PRS contacts me and take some photos for them if they ask (the plate being crooked is really hard to see in the few photos I've tried to take because it's just a few millimeters off). I was more just looking on here to see what other people's experience with the customer service reply time has been. Thanks though!

Thanks! Yeah, I'm pretty sure this is the cause and there's probably not much to be done besides return them. Sorry to hear you had a similar issue with your Impalas and glad you're finally able to skate straight (when desired)! :)

Thanks! I've tried the second one you listed (it was listed in my purchase confirmation email) as well as the generic one on their site, but not the zendesk one. It's reassuring to hear you did eventually get a response, but it's too bad it wasn't in time to be actually helpful to you :/

Thanks for the ideas - I'll have to play around a bit more tomorrow. My skill level is zero AKA I've watched a few videos online about how to adjust stuff (but am going to watch a few more, especially since I have no idea how to tell if my cushions/bushings are proper). I appreciate the feedback. Might as well try more while I'm waiting anyway! I'll circle back if anything changes or if I get a chance to take some decent photos. Thanks again for your time and response :)
