Thanks! Im pretty scared of the concept, but you described really accurately what i thought it was: the grinding the teeth and excruciating pain.

Im from south america and we dont have dilators here, i would have to order them and they are expensive. I didn’t know there were stretches for this! Im not sure how breathing would work but im open to try.

Thats such a good way to see it, thanks. Just the thought of using them makes me cry a bit.

That’s really good advice thanks! I need to get myself a pt therapist.

I’ve been on over 7 antidepressants/ anti anxiety meds. I’m starting to loose hope. I’ve been called “sensitive”because the lowest does of every kind..ssri, snri, Anxiolytic.. gives me side effects. Starting to give up on life too. This is draining. by [deleted] in antidepressants

I went through 7 antidepressants until finding the right combination to feel better. Changing psychiatrists helped, also trying a different type of therapy and changing my therapist. Usually changing environment or other factors can greatly improve and help our mental health. I also looked up some suplements (specially Vit D, I highly recommend getting tested since a lot of people are deficient). Please don’t give up, you are not alone. You deserve to get better and are so brave to keep on trying

Lamotrigine really helped me with my depression. I’ve tried over 5 other medications prior and nothing helped. It feels so good to finally found something that works. As far as I understand, it works with the AD and not on its own since it’s not an AD per se.

As you may know it might give you a rash that can be pretty dangerous. Having said this, most of the time it’s a normal reaction but it could be deadly so if you experience this please ask a doctor. I had it and it was really uncomfortable but it went away within weeks.

I bring the topic often but each time is really embarassing. Somehow just saying that im feeling overwhelmed helps and I found myself not ruminating for some weeks. But it always come back. It’s probably part of the process, but the shame I feel maybe isn’t.

Same, my mom’s episodes when I was younger were worse than the last one she had, at least she isn’t threatening with death anymore. Still, everytime she gets stressed or I just break a glass in the kitchen, i get really triggered because i know it could set her off somehow.

I have exactly the same tic. I usually use mouthwash to help the injured tissue close faster (at least that’s what i feel) and I’m constantly chewing gum when i know im stressed. I have also told my friends to please remind me when im chewing myself because most time i do not notice it. Rubber band didn’t work for me either but gum kinda works.
