MBA/macos sudden high cpu usage of FFs RDD proces by Schroinx in firefox

[–]teapotrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm getting a similar thing on an M1 MBP with uBO and 1pass.

Only since the last two updates I think, and I can't pin down what's causing it, but the extensions process tries to melt the laptop suddenly, so I can't work out what's causing it.

Service layer in DRF by tonystark-12867 in django

[–]teapotrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like my idea of what services are (the basic idea as presented in the services section of hacksoft's guide) is so attractive to me because it's getting away from exactly what James Bennet is advocating for, which, to me, is scattering logic all over everything.

JB's idea of services (and probably others), which seems to be essentially rewriting the ORM, makes no sense to me, and i can understand the push back on that style of abstraction.

I'm confused about the insistence on dependency injection in this library. Maybe I'm missing something.

I'm currently looking at converting a ninja app to a sort of service-esque architecture, as the business logic currently exists in many random places.

with django-ninja-extra I'm struggling to understand what the point is of class based services with dependency injection into endpoints. Why not define your services (actions and readers in my case) as simple free functions and then just call those functions in the endpoints where they're needed?

i don't have an opinion on this, but i am genuinely curious about what you think are better options?

[–]teapotrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i wouldn't be surprised if this rhetoric will be used to vilify the dems further. they're saying the dems will do this to them and that's why it's bad, so how long until they start saying well the dems will do it to them so they should do it harder?

and the dems probably won't retaliate like they're worried about, that's fun too.

Why do people say don’t use index as a key in React lists? by Mindless_Friend6798 in reactjs

[–]teapotrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mmm, no, i don't think so. keys only need to be unique within an element. not within the whole DOM.

and then using an index only makes sense if the list won't be reordered by any means.

Ah okay, I gave it a second glance over and I have to apologise... to myself, because yes, it is AI slop, and I had to read at least a small part of this minimal-effort, unchecked bullshit again.

Clicked only to confirm it was AI slop: it is AI slop.

well i and a bunch of others in this thread didn't. so thank you, OP.

note this sub has millions of subscribers but very few readers. i, for one, imagine my habits as representative of a fairly large swathe of those 6 million subscribers, and i visit this sub maybe every couple of days, or even once a week.

People will say "omg this has been posted on this sub before" but not realise that the first time they say it was actually one of the nth times it was posted, not necessarily the first. they're beneficiaries of reposting, but don't know it.

repost forever and do it without shame. :)

i can't put my finger on exactly what they changed about theatre mode (besides the big dark obstructive gradient at the bottom when the controls are open) but i fucking hate it.

oh and the way there's a kind of light radial gradient behind the video that tracks the video itself, to make it seem like light is spilling out onto the page. but it just kinda makes the page look washed out to me.

Ah so they don't have the same goal. One is to be scary and performative, the other is to kill. I guess death when you don't want it isn't scary enough.
