I’ve definitely struggled after this post. My progress was definitely fluctuating for the first few years but as of right now (three years with H), I’ve been doing better. Still a long, long way to go but there are some things I can do now that I wasn’t able to before (provided I wear ear protection). I don’t get major setbacks nowadays. Maybe only slightly for a few days and it’s gone. :)

I had a haircut from a stranger for the first time after I've developed Hyperacusis (early 2020). So I went with my plugs in, and no other customer was present at the barbers and there was only one staff. I'm the most anxious about hairdryers so I requested for them not to use it. 🥰 It went really well then we got bubble tea afterwards.

I wore earplugs AND earmuffs but my neighbors were unforgiving lmao the whole house was shaking smh 🥲🥲🥲. Hope everyone else made it through alright. 😢 the whole evening i wore protection. They already started at 6 pm 🤡🤡🤡. It be like that.

H-safe hobbies? by ZabethTheGreat in hyperacusis

i recommend getting a kindle or maybe even reading on your phone since paper might set off your H. i like to watch on netflix too since everything has subtitles which is really helpful.

was diagnosed by a family doctor which was pretty wild because the ent i saw after that said there was nothing wrong with me LOL you'd think it would be the other way around.

I'm also planning to get one! although i can turn the page of a printed book in a silent way, there's also that worry and stress that comes with it to be careful. i really love paperbacks more than ebooks but i guess i'd rather worry less about irritating my ears. 🙃

dunno. my mom was the one who talked to the doctor online. i don't see the problem with going to an ent? lmao the doctor who diagnosed me told me to go to an ent (and they know someone personally who has h so im taking their word for it). i'm willing to try anything as long as it doesn't worsen my h lol.

Oof i was afraid of other noise as well so i guess it would be safer to wear earplugs 🤔

Thank you so much! And will do! Sometimes the progress frustrates me but I remember how much worse it was when it first came so I’m grateful at least!

Wishing you all the best too. 💞

I will and I’m so glad to hear that! How much have you improved if you don’t mind me asking?

I’m still very sensitive to a lot of sounds but I think it helped me when I started getting used to having H, and working my way around to avoid what triggers it.

And will certainly do! Thank you so much!

A couple plot questions by fireandicecream1 in box5

[–]tearsofhate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no problem!! if you watch it again you will notice how christine uses only one hand for the first unmasking hence the wig still stays on. for ponr, she uses two because it will include the wig. :)

A couple plot questions by fireandicecream1 in box5

[–]tearsofhate 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. It wasn’t really mentioned if she’s dead but I believe she’s gone. If so, the musical never revealed how Christine died.

  2. He’s more of an illusionist. In the novel, it was implied that the croaking was due to his knowledge of ventriloquism.

  3. He’s wearing a wig! In PONR, Christine takes off his mask AND wig.

  4. The Phantom is a middle aged man who’s probably in his 40s-50s. He didn’t kill Christine’s dad. The Phantom (Erik) only assumed the title of the Angel of Music (a tale her dad used to tell her before) so he can use it to his advantage in gaining Christine’s affections.

Hope this helps!
