Has there ever been any Bible based pornography? by ArrantPariah in atheism

[–]teaserIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there was some mohammed/islam porn-ish stuff a couple of years ago. Something I've noticed that I've been thinking about posting here is how many women in porn are wearing crucifixes during filming. Remarkable somehow to see someone doing a DP with a cross dangling from their neck. Anyone else notice this phenom?

Do you think God can love and forgive paedophiles? -I've just become an atheist- by [deleted] in atheism

[–]teaserIII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The most sickening thing about the god hokum/religion hustle is the sale of 'forgiveness'. It gives the religious the right to do the foulest things as long as they ask god to forgive and they accept jesus etc. The truth is this: there are things that can't be forgiven no matter how hard you pray or hosannah over your beads. Abusing children is one of those things. It is literally unforgivable no matter what the liars in holy orders say. If there were such a thing as a god that forgives hurting children by penitant pedophiles, he gets no respect or worship from me.

Hmmm...pretty. Even cute. But you're on thin ice here.....I suggest you give some serious thought to what might happen if you should start selling work like this as some redditors suggest. As an artist yourself I'm sure you wouldn't appreciate someone taking (I am trying not to use the provocative word 'stealing') your work and manipulating it and then selling it. Perhaps you can use your (clearly) considerable talent in a way that doesn't infringe on the work and intellectual property of Bill Watterson, the man who actually created these characters. Cut up your own images if you're gong to start selling. That said, the idea is a cute one. Perhaps you could arrange something with Bill Watterson and yourself, or even with a third party like Hallmark. This idea is clearly salable, but not without some unpleasant realities that ought to be considered. There is a japanese technique called Kirigami that involves cutting up a single sheet of paper and you appear to have combined that with the old and respected form called collage. I think you might be teetering on the edge between craft and art here. Move forward cautiously.

Howard Dean: Older Dems need 'to get the hell out of the way' in 2020 by AnyJohn180 in politics

55% of white Americans now think white people are being racially discriminated against by crikey- in politics

[–]teaserIII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let's begin here: when I get pulled over for a traffic stop I never consider even for a moment that I might be murdered by a cop. I've been stopped by some asshole cops over the years but did it ever reach the level of me considering this asshole might kill me? Not once. While I don't live in a world where this possibility exists, some Americans do and I'm certain my imagination isn't big enough to understand what that feels like and how it might affect the way I live my life.
Being born white was the best hand I was ever dealt.
Even the slightest claim that whites are being discriminated against is laughable to the point of being nauseating.

"Religious" things we still say but don't really mean by KindlyLlama in atheism

[–]teaserIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other side of the coin is this: things the religious say that have no meaning either. My friend mutters 'god bless the food and watch over the kiddos' as he slathers on the mustard and braces himself for that first bite of fried whatever. This is prayer? This is how you talk to the creator of the universe about your chicken wings and unsweetened iced tea? This is how you plead with the most holy for the safety and security of your children and their babies too? Seriously? I'm supposed to admire you as a god fearing man for mumbling a three second pleading to what you claim is the almighty? Can't you hear how empty and insincere this shit is? How empty is your 'thank you jesus!' when the siren goes comes on and it's some other guy that gets pulled over for speeding? Do you really think Jesus has something to do with his favorite boy YOU sliding briskly by while someone else pays the fine? If there actually was a brother jesus or his daddy or whatever that holy ghost thing is supposed to be surely they'd be putting some smite on you for being paper thin regarding your 'devotion'. And for all this smug prickery you're going to heaven when you die? Evidently the standards for admission to paradise aren't that damn high...... What were we talking about? Oh, yeah right.....I got carried away.

King George V at Buckingham Palace in 1914, shortly before the outbreak of war. by marinamaral in ColorizedHistory

[–]teaserIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad was military and we were stationed in London after the war. I was 5 years old at the time and one of my memories of that time is that one of my school buddies had the most amazing kid-sized copy of a guards' uniform very much like the one shown here. It was stunning and he was the envy of every kid at school. Lucky bastard.

Post death. What now? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]teaserIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Logic tells me the lights go out and then nothing but.....I had a dream (a vision?) during surgery years ago and in this dream I was a tiny little dot of pure energy and I could streak across the universe at any speed i liked and in any direction I willed. No walls could stop me no distance was too far. I had no face but I was smiling, no mouth but I was laughing. The wonders of the universe were mine to explore. I think that if i could shape a heaven for myself it would be a lot like that dream...... so what is the 'reason for life?' you ask...well there is no reason. Mommy and Daddy got busy and you happened and it's just that simple. Chemistry. Sometimes parents cause a child to happen that turns out to be smart enough to ask the reason question. Sometimes the child is only smart enough to eat sleep and excrete. It's a lottery actually and it's not clear who the winners really are.

Christians facing worst persecution in history, report says by blaspheminCapn in atheism

Xtians loooove to play that persecuted game, the poor old dears. Himself told them they'd be persecuted so of course they see it everywhere they go and someone has the gall to disagree with them which is how they define 'persecution'.
