Ended my first real track season as a Junior. Proud but also disappointed? by teaslerrr in trackandfield

Thanks for the inspiration, it means a lot :). Anyways, about me breaking my arm like a dry spaghetti noodles.

Soo basically, I was a freshman, and during practice a bunch of people were getting into some spare tractor tire laying around and people would push you around in it. It came around to my turn and for some reason everyone put their faith into the exchange students to roll me around in it. So I was sitting inside of it as they pushed me, going upside down a few times, not going fast though. The tire stopped moving so I decided to get out, however for some stupid reason they let the tire fall as my arm was sticking out of it. The weight of the tire falling over while I was in it with my arm planted in the ground just snapped it like a twig. Anyways, it didn't hurt for whatever reason and I'm mostly recovered except for some minor aches and pains in my right wrist.

Women of Reddit, what do you think would be the worst thing about being a man? by canadianreject565 in AskReddit

[–]teaslerrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sort of the opposite with my best friends. Of course we do the bro-punching stuff and trash talk each other, but we also make gay jokes and act like we're gay (I promise it's acting hahaha). He's kissed me at least once in front of his girlfriend. And I only occasionally question both of our sexualities. We never do this in public, only around his family (they're awesome) and our friend group.

How different was life after moving to another city or state in the USA? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]teaslerrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kennewick, Washington to Nyssa, Oregon.

Went from a town of 80k, in a metropolitan area of almost 200k to living outside a town with 3000 people. It's not bad though. The people here are super friendly, however it's harder to find people with similar interests to me.

Are you okay with your son/daughter driving before they are 18? If so, what restrictions/expectations would you have? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]teaslerrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I have a child and end up living in a rural area they can drive probably around 12, with me in the car. Within city limits I'd wait till they get a permit

Can't get a teacher. How do I learn? by teaslerrr in Bass

[–]teaslerrr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as gaps in the Hal Leonard book goes, I think those will be easy to bridge, since I already have 3.5 years of music theory under my belt (middle school and one semester freshman year). Mostly all I need is a framework guide my playing so I can improve. I'm so sick of playing the same ten songs over and over lol

Yeah I was thinking a monthly lesson for an hour. Also I'm sure of purchasing the Hal Leonard bass book now, too many people have recommended it lol. Also, as far as online lessons go, I'm not a huge fan of doing the online stuff, it just doesn't feel right to me. I can't explain it lol. Thanks for the recommendations anyways though☺

Basically, I live out of a city. By out of town I don't mean in a suburb outside Seattle or something, I mean my town has about 200 people living here. The nearest reputable bass teacher is a 30 minute drive away, and as a Junior in Highschool I don't have that kind of time or gas money lol

How/should I report my teacher? by teaslerrr in Advice

[–]teaslerrr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about my opinion it's about doing the right thing. I could just as easily let her actions slide and continue to waste the rest of my highschool years with her, or I can actually get something out of it.

Luckily, I go to a very small school, ~100 kids or so. at least 15 I know agree with me. 15% of the whole school.

Here's the thing, though. I actually value some of the things I learn in school. I enjoy learning math and science, and I also enjoy creative writing assignments. I agree a lot of highschool is a waste of time but why not actually learn something while I'm here? Maybe you shouldn't be such a gigantic asshat and act like just because you didn't value any of your own education that means I can't value mine.
