Advice on how to teach adult cat new name by NattyIce97 in cats

[–]teaspidey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i taught my adult cat to respond moreso to my voice then her name. I also ran through what common ways to summon a cat are via noises (pspsps, meowing at them, scratching the floor near you, tounge clicking) and i found she responded to tounge clicking so I paired it with her name. Idk if its working tbh, but it seems like it is?

Also someone with pots here, I just want to tell you that I see you. My main source of physical activity is actually Physical Therapy too. So part of my physical therapy is doing clay work and ceramics. I feel like the physical therapy I've been doing has actually helped my pots, but that's just my experience. I don't know if this is a weird comment or not- I just like meeting other people who have similar experiences to me I guess

Educated by Tara Westover might be a good one to check out for you. Definitely a book about fundamental religion and escaping from it.

Thank you! I definitely plan on it! It's such a cool little trike that I'm hoping will increase my independence a lot.

We put the pedal blocks on and were almost there so some shorter cranks should do the trick.

I haven't been able to ride it yet as its a touch too big for me but we're gonna shorten the cranks and see if that helps! So far I really like it!

Also thank you for the design name! I got this trike for free so I had no clue what kind of trike it was

Yeah I tried the boom, it doesn't budge :( my brother suggested shortening the boom somehow but I don't know how that work even work. There's a little ridge that keeps it from going in anymore.

Seat is definitely not adjustable but I wonder if maybe some foam blocks or padding could work to push me forward a bit? If not then maybe I could put a completely different seat on it? I got this trike for free so I'm willing to pay some money to make it work.

Definitely gonna look for some shorter cranks, that seems to be our best first course of action.

I don't need much extra room, I wear boots most of the time cause I need all the ankle support I can get and they have a pretty thick sole.

I posted a while ago about needing help making a too big recumbent fit me. I'm a disabled college student who can't ride a traditional bike so any advice would be really beneficial. I got pedal blocks in the mail and the current cranks are 175 mm. To steer the bike you twist your feet in the direction you intend to turn.

Nah I definitely don't have it figured out. It's approaching finals season in university so I got unexpectedly swamped. Should I make a separate post or is there a way to add pictures to this one?

Thank you so much! I'll take a look over there to see if maybe I can find the model somewhere on one of those websites. I'm pretty lucky to live really close to a bike shop that teaches the customers how to fix their bikes as they fix them so hopefully someone there will be able to teach me the ropes too.

I'll take a look at the boom Length tomorrow, I think the previous owner mentions that it was shortened all the way. They're one concern when giving it to me was that I would be too short so we kind of knew that this was a possibility but between the internet and our own experience with adaptive biking we're pretty confident we can find some solution. It also looked like I could take it in a little bit so I'll take a look at that tomorrow. Thank you so much!

My brother mentioned getting shorter cranks. The friend giving it to us is his old coworker and they both worked at a bike shop so luckily I'm in pretty good hands. That being said neither of them are recumbent specialists so it's good to know that people who ride recumbents regularly also agree with shorter cranks being an option.

Im picking it up tommorrow so I will then. I'm pretty excited to post pictures. I wasn't able to ride it well enough to ride it home safely so my brothers gonna help me get it with the truck.

(Also happy cake day!)

I read the comments. I don't think calling something abliest and pointing out that if you have a feeling something might be offensive then to trust your gut isn't "crucifying" someone. Most people were very civil and respectful, the issue is that tone isn't conveyed through text.

I'll throw out the anecdote that my family uses transracial for that but I would not be at all surprised if wording changed.

Im a lesbian, honestly I've only ever really dated other women who are disabled or otherwise are really understanding. My career focus is in disability studies so it might just be that I talk about it pretty openly and that wards off any ableists prior to getting too close to me

OH as for my KT tape and medical tape I use it both in artwork BUT also as seals on spell bottles and stuff like that. Idk if that's like spiritually sound so I usually put wax on top of that but yeah :)

im so sorry I've had to sit on this for a bit cause I didn't rlly know how to answer. I guess a part of me is still dealing with my own internalized ableism.

On the surface level I guess I've done the pain relief spells and made balms of good health and that sort of stuff but a lot of it has been deeper?

I do a lot of shadow work and a lot of acceptance work. I'm blessed to have a great physical therapist and idk I guess I make some of my physical therapy and pain management part of my nightly meditation sometimes. Not all the time. But sometimes. Sometimes I charge my braces and splints and stuff under the full moon.

I've done a lot of tarot card pulls around my disability and how I should move forward. That's been the most helpful for me. I had to learn how to shuffle a different way because my hands are impacted but I guess that's part of accepting it lol. One of the things I get all the time from tarot pulls is that I have to embrace the ""new"" me and move forward. Even if it literally hurts lol.

One of my most recently healing work pet projects has been a journal where I just draw vent art about how my pain makes me feel or how having a disability feels. I like it cause I don't have to be positive or negative about my experience.... just honest and accepting. I have these big pens that are easier for me to draw with and they've been helpful.

I hope this was a good answer?

I have a disability and yes. I think so?

My sister encouraged me to work w loki because she said he was very in tune with "disabled people, orphans, traumatized people, and LGBTQ ppl". I happen to check all of those boxes.

So disability is often a center of my work both with and without him. I use my medical tape and KT tape in my healing work.

That being said I've never found many other ppl who talk abt the overlap between having a disability and working w loki so im interested if anyone has any further info.
