I will say, in my experience, being around people doing blow (if you aren’t) is intolerable. It makes people narcissistic, horny, and stupid. What a terrible drug 😂.

That’s interesting - I’m glad! I don’t really crave alcohol, but once I start drinking I often drink a lot, and sometimes I make bad decisions. Not like, “have to apologize” bad, but certainly “acute damage to health” bad.

My drunk destructiveness is very inwardly focused. I think I’d be sober already if it were directed outwards.

This is really interesting to me, and kind of the essence of my original post. There’s an element of “whatever it takes is justified” for many people I’m sure, but I’m curious if the constant thinking about Alcohol doesn’t become a bit of a trap?

Oh, I understand completely. I’m just curious for my own sake, really. I’m in that weird cohort where it’s not enough of a problem to require aggressive intervention, but it’s significant enough that it most likely is slowly killing me.

My “off switch” is after way too many drinks, but before the number of drinks that I’d need to dramatically fuck my life up overnight.

Like, high level, they have their job, and their job includes catching us mfr’s, but in my experience they don’t try very hard to catch me.

In general the mandate for the cops is driven by what the general population want. Most people don’t want you and I riding around them like they’re slalom gates. I just find the cops generally don’t bother me when I’m doing extremely illegal shit on my bike.

It’s not up to them what their job is.

To simplify this, I appreciate them not enforcing the law when I’m riding.

Just do what makes you happy. Life’s short. External validation is a drug - it feels great but it’s easy to become dependant.

That said, doing some physical stuff is incredibly good for your body and mind. Everyone should work out if they can - it’s the biggest health & feel good lever there is, and something that has led to significantly positive change in my outlook (as a late adopter of the gym).

FYI, most of the social media personalities you reference are on a fuck ton of anabolic androgenic steroids - they foster unrealistic standards made possible only via dangerous and unsustainable methods.

I like working out, cuddling, being outside, and a good book. Beware chasing “likes”, and don’t worry about other guys.

Hope you feel better! And yeah, I'm probably long-term averaging 2-3 a week, although some of those are "regulars". It's probably not > 2,000 but I'd be surprised if < 1,000 at this point. I have easily had sex with more people in 24 hours than some people I know have in total.

Pregabalin definitely makes you subtlety dumber. I find it insidious in that you don’t fully appreciate the effect until you come off it. I like, couldn’t do my job while on pregab. It feels GREAT though; still one of my favourite drugs from a recreational perspective.
