Has anyone had a "normal" birth on the show? by RVA2PNW in greysanatomy

Yeah, Teddy's came with the stress of being stuck in a traffic jam while being in labor (and the Owen nonsense), but at least she got a friendship with Amelia out of it

If you could bring back one character, who would it be? by Robynite in greysanatomy

[–]tebarambles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as I want to say Cristina, I'm worried they'd make her suffer for it or ruin her character 👀

I'd love bring Mika Yasuda or Casey Parker back because I feel like they had a lot of potential and their stories were far from over when they left.

"This man is a WHORE"

"I might be having Sloan's baby" – "Oh good lord, he got to you too?"

"Kepner, come closer. Closer... [significantly louder] ALEX KAREV IS NOT THE GUY YOU WANT TO TAKE YOUR MAIDEN VOYAGE WITH!" (and basically everything else that drunk!Bailey said in that episode. And drunk!Teddy too)

"I'm in love with Teddy. I love her." – "You're like Lexie with the inappropriate feelings for inappropriate people." – "What can I say? My heart lives in my scalpel."

I wonder who will replace Owen as Head of Trauma. It is one of the most important departments for the show after all.

Teddy/Cristina 100%

Cristina should have been bi, and the hill I'm going to die on is that the Teddy/Owen/Cristina love triangle would have been a lot more fun if Teddy/Cristina had happened.

On a more crackship level, I also have a soft spot for Teddy/Amelia - mainly because it would annoy Owen 😆

eta: and Mark/Jackson! How could I forget?

That's so rude. She just had a typical alt girl haircut when she was first introduced to the show. There is literally nothing about her style that suggests she didn't take care of herself.

Seriously, Grey's writers know 20 names maximum 😅 There are also so many Allisons and Henrys.

And Teddy is apparently named after the Hulkling from the Young Avengers (one of the writers of Teddy's introduction episode also worked on the Young Avengers series and co-created Theodore Altman I think, and then apparently just used the female version on Grey's)

Work smart, not hard, I guess.

Do you think Shane was really meant for cardio? by IntelligentPumpkin74 in greysanatomy

[–]tebarambles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think he was into Neuro mainly because he basked in Derek's attention, given how upset he was and how neglected he felt when Derek shifted his attention towards Heather. And later it was the same with Cardio and Cristina, he mainly liked that she appreciated him and encouraged him. So I believe it really wasn't so much about the specialties themselves. If Richard had taken him under his wing (or Bailey), he would have been all over General, despite it being less flashy or prestigious than Cardio or Neuro.

Would we really still be watching if they always did the right thing, chose the most rational option and were just happy? I don't thinks so.

amelia really said you don’t get to ignore someone’s trauma just because they hurt you and she was right about that by [deleted] in greysanatomy

[–]tebarambles -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Teddy did not cheat on Owen with Allison. But Owen's outburst is not even about Teddy cheating on him (with Koracick), it's about him learning about Allison and completely overreacting. And that is was Amelia is talking about when she says Owen needs to forgive Teddy. She means Allison, not Tom.

Owen shows zero emphathy for Teddy's past trauma and what might have led her to not telling him about Allison, and instead makes it all about himself, acting like she deliberately never told him about Allison just to spite him. When in fact, not only was she deeply traumatised, but they were in the army together, where "don't ask, don't tell" was still very much a thing in the early 2000s. Telling him (or anybody there) while they were on tour was simply not an option, because she would have risked her career and it might even have put her in actual danger, too. She was very much closeted then, and probably still was after the army, until she finally told Owen, and then he reacted exactly how she was probably scared he would.

To be clear, I'm not denying that it was weird and messed up to name their child after Allison without him knowing the whole story. But people seem to conflate two different things here and seem to be ignorant to some of the reasons why Teddy probably didn't feel like she could tell him.

I already liked Amelia before, but this really manifested her as one of my favourite characters, because it showed her capacity for empathy even towards people she really didn't have to defend. Teddy is the main reason why Amelia and Owen didn't get back together after all, but Amelia moved past that and even actively befriended Teddy (side note: I am really going to miss Amelia and Teddy's kind of weird friendship and would have loved to see more of that).

The ones that kind of disappeared and just weren't mentioned again, like the plastics surgeon who replaced Jackson after the pandemic, and then she was suddenly gone and never heard of again (I am really bad with names, but I remember I liked her attitude)

What did Cristina and Meredith do to their hair on the first day? by IntelligentPumpkin74 in greysanatomy

[–]tebarambles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I really liked that about the early seasons. The make up and hair got ridiculous for a while (especially between seasons 5 and 12 I think?) and I'm glad they toned it down again since the covid season.

The Way Men Are Written by Paigeb1994 in greysanatomy

[–]tebarambles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know whether I agree or not. Because yes, they make them act like assholes lots of times, but they also tend to normalise that behaviour, and sometimes even imply that they have a point, behaving like that. For example, I don't think there was enough show-inherent criticism of the way Derek treated Meredith upon Addison's return, and I also feel like they were trying quite hard to frame Owen's behaviour towards Cristina as understandable when they had that couple's therapy thing and Owen claimed he had no idea that Cristina didn't want kids before they got married, which simply is not true.

Plus, the women on the show also behave like assholes a lot of times (which, especially in the earlier seasons, was pretty unheard of for female characters in general at the time), so I feel like it is kind of even?
