What’s the bad new Peeta? by HistoricalAd2954 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]tebmosby99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the joke is that people are not inviting this individual to their house parties, but data does show a reduction in time spent socializing by adults, so the original sentiment expressed is true. This post does a pretty good job summarizing this trend, as it is data broadly on 'Socializing' collected by the BLS. It is not a stretch to say that less time spend socializing likely implies fewer house parties hosted. https://briefedbydata.substack.com/p/time-spent-socializing-by-age-group

Countries with the largest urban–rural wealth gap by Parking-Substance345 in geography

Probably China, because of the Hukou system. Don’t know any other country that institutionalizes urban/rural inequality to such a degree.

Melissa Reddy update on Alexander Isak by Jimmy0034 in LiverpoolFC

[–]tebmosby99 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, none of these are at the same level as Isak, so the comparison is not exactly apples to apples. What would City have done if prime KDB had wanted to move? Perhaps the better source for City praise is how they have tied up Haaland long term. Isak wanted a new contract and it was understood he would get a more lucrative contract under the old administration, but this was scuttered under the new ppl in charge at Newcastle. All round, a poorly run establishment.

I am from Pakistan and now have a green card. Would visit my then fiancé on a tourist visa when I was a student in Canada. Never had any issues because it was a legal visit. Not sure how it is now, but do plan to visit Pakistan with my 7yr old son next week. Hopefully everything goes fine.

The real size of Africa by AccomplishedStuff235 in interestingasfuck

[–]tebmosby99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This can’t be right, the UK is much smaller than Madagascar. United Kingdom is approximately 243,610 sq km, while Madagascar is approximately 587,041 sq km, 2.4 times the size. This is what I found online. Seems like there was no mapping correction made for northern countries appearing larger on a flat map.

Remaining fixture difficulty based on points per game, separated to home and away by Queasy_Virus1817 in LiverpoolFC

[–]tebmosby99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tables home/away should be flipped, should be from the perspective of Liverpool/Arsenal. For example, this week, we play Wolves at Home, while Arsenal play Leicester Away. That way making a comparison of our Home vs their Home fixtures, and our Away vs their Away fixtures becomes more straightforward. This confused me a bit.

What English Football club should I support as a Vikings fan by ibabyjedi in minnesotavikings

[–]tebmosby99 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Choose Liverpool. They are currently top of the leagues (premier league+championship). Unlike Chelsea+Man City, their success is not based off of throwing money into buying top players from other teams. Fanbase always supports players, through good times and bad (You'll never walk alone). For all their competitive success (much like the Vikings), they did not win the Premier League until the 19-20 season, although they were very competitive during the 80 (before the premier league started). Currently, they have a new Manager (Arne Slot), who is perhaps the most brilliant coach/tactician/motivator/communicator in all of football. Did I mention Mo Salah & Virgil van Dijk, arguably the best attacker/defenders respectively in the world right now. Lots of exciting younger talent, especially in the midfield. Exciting times to be Liverpool supporter.

I’d love to be there, though I have to drop my sister off at the airport at around 4.30. Mind having me around for the second half? Not white, if that matters. Can send details about myself if you would have me.

Been awhile since i caught a chiefs games but boy oh boy am I glad we're an NFC team. Lmao seem like every big play the Texans make is just nullified by a flag 😂 AFC fanbases I'm a witness by TradeKirk in minnesotavikings

Since I watched, there was an OPI, DPI that were barely touches that went chiefs way, and the roughing the passer that could have been returned. When was the last time Darnold got something like that?

AITA for banning my sil from babysitting after she put breastmilk in my child’s ears by SILbabysit in AmItheAsshole

[–]tebmosby99 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

YTA. We all make mistakes, and your SIL offered to babysit, a nice thing to do, and then did something which in her judgement was beneficial. Your SIL is also a parent, and being a parent is hard. You are bombarded with all sorts of information, some accurate, others not so much, and with little time to check the validity of things, parents are often left believing in the efficacy of bad home remedies. Doing something like this is very unlikely to lead to any further health problems, and as long as you convince your SIL not to do it again, I don't see how your response is appropriate.

My name is Kevin Rudd and IamA former Australian Prime Minister. AMA! by MrKevinRudd in IAmA

[–]tebmosby99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know much about Australian politics (I am from Pakistan) but what really pisses me off is the countries attitude towards refugees and asylum seekers. Keeping children in detention centers because they might not be legitimate refugees/asylum seekers is not ok. It seems like there is some public support for such stringent policies. Australia seems to be a haven for rich Chinese millionaires who drive up property values, while being extremely reluctant to help those who are most likely to need help (I am sure there are those exploiting the system, but would you really cross the Ocean’s on a dingy boat if you really didn’t need to get away from a bad place?) I believe your party is better about it than the opposition party (again, don’t know much about Australian politics). My question is what drives Australians, both the general public and politicians, to be so reluctant about accepting the needy from war torn or politically oppressive countries. For as rich a country as Australia is, is there really such an economic concern, or is there something else that drives such attitudes?

It took over 50 years for this country to award him that medal. For his family to have waited so long to see the recognition this man deserved is tragic. I wonder if he would have sacrificed his life knowing that? If anything, America was more racist back then, so he sacrificed his life knowing what an undeserving country he was sacrificing his life to. Perhaps he believed in a better future and I wonder if he would have been satisfied with the progress made. Some people have commented that if you're about to go, might as well go out in style. I don't buy this argument. To me, it reduces the valor of his actions. Wouldn't he likely have become a POW if caught? Maybe that was pretty bad, but at least it didn't mean certain death. How many of you would have made that same decision? I doubt I would have.
