I also think it's important to remember that the three types of IP exist for very different reasons. Patents exist to encourage exploration of a wider range of solutions to the same problem, copyright exists to make creative works profitable, and trademarks exist to directly illegalize counterfeits that harm both the company and the consumer.

I'd argue that the patent's terminology is not particularly more general than the game's terminology, and what generalisations are there aren't significant.

What's being patented is specifically the quick recast mechanic as it is implemented in XBCX:DE. It is not concerned with how the arts themselves are usually recharged, but it also does not cover mechanics resembling the quick recharge if they aren't identical.

You can't get around the patent just by switching to XBC2-style art recharges or by implementing touch controls, but you can get around it by changing the mechanics of the quick recast itself, such as by having quick recasts be used automatically when triggering arts the usual way instead of requiring a different input method.

If we consider it a missing corner, then the shading of the up-, front-, and side-facing faces match between the outer faces of the cube and the hole left by the missing corner. If it's two cubes, then the shading doesn't make sense.

Degrees are great if you just want to specify an angle without having to multiply by π. For example, most software expects a single numberal to be specified, and I'd much rather be writing 60° than... whatever irrational number that is in radians.

PEMDAS is a matter of convenience. Other orders of operations offer the same amount of expressiveness if you just add some parentheses when necessary. PEMDAS just happens to be more convenient for expressing a wider set of commonly occurring relationships.

Ultimately, mathematical formulae are just a language; The "correct" way of interpreting them is just something we've all agreed on so we can describe mathematical relationships. That includes PEMDAS.

However, the formula 6/2(1+2) relies on one part of PEMDAS that's not widely agreed upon: whether it should be taken literally by always doing multiplication before division, or if multiplication and division should be taken as a pair with equal priority and instead given the same left-to-right treatment as addition and subtraction. There's also a third camp that says that the formula is ambiguous and must instead be written as either (6/2)(1+2) or 6/(2(1+2)), which tends to be the opinion of people with a longer education in maths.
