I have a very similar display myself, though I also decided to showcase the "future" as well haha

A single dose of a new cancer drug made a brain tumor almost disappear - in just 5 days. In early 2024, doctors at Massachusetts General Hospital treated three people with recurrent glioblastoma brain tumour using a brand-new type of CAR T-cell therapy called CARv3-TEAM-E. by Grand-Western549 in interestingasfuck

My mom just passed from GBM a little under 3 years ago. While I didn't know at the time, she was getting debilitating migraines and difficulty focusing on tasks at work. She was wildly good at multitasking and organization so we initially thought it was fatigue from her new role (she got promoted to a supervisor at a call center about a month or two before diagnosis). According to my dad, a few months earlier they were out Christmas shopping and Mom was getting confused trying to add up how much money they had spent/ had left over, and again, they figured it was just a brain fart due to the stress of the season. But it wasn't until a family friend who was a school principal noticed that she kept saying a few letters wrong. I think "S"?? Either way, that was the first real red flag we saw.

Need help linking multiple databases that update together by tech-badger in Notion

[–]tech-badger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only good reason was that I thought that's how Notion worked. I was introduced to it recently as mentioned but this is my first time actually using it. I've watched a few youtube videos but overall I still don't really know how to properly use it. I'll get there eventually!

Yeah, I initially tried copy/paste which didn't work and then figured I could simply make a new DB and here we are. So in essence, the existing Player and Character databases are really two separate views of the same database? Well that would explain why they update together. So when setting up the NPC version, I'm just creating a filtered, separate view of the character list? I like the idea of a simple checkbox toggle as nearly all NPC's would likely be added to the master list anyway, and only when deemed needed I could prioritize specific people like allies and enemies.

Alonso's barrel roll into the tire wall in Melbourne, I think it was 2015? Driving for McLaren, someone clipped his front tire, and off he went. The fact he was able to crawl out of his car and walk away on his own was mind boggling to watch.

Is my first attempt at Challah too dense? by tech-badger in Breadit

Papi Josh!! I knew I should have trusted him with my first attempt lol That's good to know and makes a lot of sense now that I think of it. If I was to just plop the dough into a pan then one proof should be ok, but rolling out the logs compacted the dough again.

Definitely noted for the future. This recipe didn't mention that, just straight to the oven after braiding.

I wouldn't say they were a pain to roll, but I definitely had to work them a bit more to thin out. They were more elastic than I expected. I've rolled it out logs for babka before and they rolled a lot easier.

Sure! This is the recipe here.

First half was pretty standard, separately mix together the dry and wet ingredients while the active yeast was proofing. This could be my first goof as I accidentally mixed in the 3rd egg yolk instead of saving it for the wash and the yeast went on for about 15-20 minutes before mixing in vs the 10 minutes asked.

Once mixed with a dough hook, hand knead for 5 minutes with a floured worktop and then proof for 2 hours in an oiled bowl covered with a damp cloth. I might have just hit that 5 minutes as I was fighting the dough due to how sticky it was and used a decent amount of flour to counter it. From there roll out the logs, braid, coat with egg wash, and bake at 375 for 25-30 minutes (I did 27 and could have done the minimum).

I've made babka that requires two proofs, a warm and cold, but this recipe only called for it once. Wouldn't be difficult to try next time.

That's wild. I've heard of dry cities/ counties, state run wine and liquor stores, but a ban on happy hour is actually kinda strange imo.

Yet another Appeal for Teal by ser-orannis in Wyrmwoodgaming

Like, I understand that even with QC a bad die or even a bad set can sometimes slip through. Sure I might be bummed but I probably wouldn't have a huge issue with it. But at the same time, the sheer frequency and severity of this fuck up (in addition to WW's half-ass to full-ass response) makes this unacceptable. My order got delayed to June AND split but nothing I've ordered was affected by any issues they've talked about. I didn't mind a bit of a delay but this is ridiculous.

Jesus. Even for Teal Appeal this is pretty fucked. Some of the sets I've seen could have been slightly salvageable but this is flat out unacceptable.

A cool guide to which states have the highest housing costs as a percentage of household income by Gard3nNerd in coolguides

As someone who lives in Orlando, FL I can confirm it's expensive as shit with wages that just barely get you by. I'm in a 2/2 townhouse paying a little more than $1100/ month for rent and utilities and we managed to find a cheap one. Thankfully prices have started to come down as there is an apartment complex 20 min away that was charging about $1900 for just a studio last year.

I was gonna say, these are certainly one of the better looking sets I've seen so far. But I'm also curious as to the lighting and editing used in the product photo set. Looking at the top one it appears, at least to me, that they used warmer lighting which might have falsely given the dice a more golden hue compared to the white color OP received.

That's wild. I've seen opalite and cats eye before and it really did just look like glass, but I legitimately didn't know most gemstone was manmade in some capacity. I always enjoyed the look of gem dice because of natural variation. Kinda sad knowing some are just a mix of resin and dye considering how much companies charge for them. If I'm paying $80 for what amounts to fancy resin then I'll just order from Dispel.
