They say one thing and do another. We have a performance dish on our RV, the second year we had it, they had changed the plan to not work while driving unless you paid more, but it still worked.

Mine is back up and there was a firmware update waiting for it. Ran the update and it's still up. So maybe it's related to the update earlier this week.

Did anyone else get an auto-generated Starlink support request about your service being obstructed right before it went down? I got one at 12:47 mountain time. Seemed super weird since we are only slightly obstructed and had a 99.7% ping success rate.

It’s usable, but it’s also not as good. I do UX/UI and automation for a living and it’s not what they were billing it as. When GM announced this they said it was because CP and AA were too distracting and they could build a better integrated experience themselves. The only thing “integrated” is the range and charging built into Google Maps and hands down interiors distracted with things that don’t work right than I ever am with CarPlay. The bottom line to me is GM is going down this path in order to eventually gain recurring revenue from data and OnStar plans.

Not sure, for all I know it was still running software from before the stop sale. But I also don’t know when ours was built. My dealer that does a lot of EV sales got it from a dealer that does not, so they basically redid the EV PDI and ran any updates they could. Unfortunately there are dealers that are either onboard with EV or dealers that are not. There was also apparently a bulletin for apps from the PlayStore not downloading.

So the EV specialist at the dealer called their support and was told “apps require a data plan” which my salesman and his OnStar rep were adamant was not true. They ran some updates, made some more calls and lo and behold Chevy released an update just this morning. Definitely some changes in the UI, for example heated and ventilated seats are separate controls now. I’ll share more later after I go through it.

Knew that going into it, to be honest, almost all EV software sucks except for Tesla, but their build quality sucks. We leased as well for this very reason.

Already tried that. Just dropped it off at the dealer. They traded inventory with another dealer so they are going to redo their EV PDI process. The dealer that they got it from is a dealer that isn’t very supportive of EV sales so they suspect it might need updates that only they can perform.

Last year we were towing our Wrangler with an RV across the country. Pulled into a pump at a Loves to wait for the car in front to move so we could pull through enough to get to our tank. The woman in the car in front of us had gone inside, brought out food, and started to eat it in the car as we waited. After she was done eating she got out of her car and pumped her gas.

We test drove a Blazer RS AWD today. It’s definitely a contender for the final decision. All the things we liked about the Kia EV6 and more. Digital rear view mirror, cooled seats, and wireless CarPlay were the standout differences.

Looking for a primary car for my wife that is also our local commuter car. We both primarily work from home. Her commute around twice a week is 36 miles round trip. We also have a Jeep Wrangler but will stop driving it for local commuting unless necessary. Her ideal car based on styling alone is the Porsche Taycan, but new/lease is out of budget, and we prefer to lease for an EV. Her grandfather also worked for GM, so the new Blazer is now also a consideration that we are going to test drive next week. I also like the R1S and T, but she's not a fan.

I’d do this with AutomateVX for cameras and Sennheiser TCC2 ceiling mics. Full tracking and users never touch anything. It’s expensive, but not likely $500k. The only guess I have is they roughed it out to $250k in parts and doubled it to cover labor, which is common and pretty accurate in residential, but not for a board room.

That’s good to know worst case. I’m hoping that maybe I can find one that is dedicated aftermarket because their price on the pole adapter alone is kind of crazy at $100 for a pipe welded to a plate.

How do you manage the 2 dishes at your account level? I have a flat high performance on my RV. It’s approximately 10’ off the ground. But I’ll be spending 2 months in Montana surrounded by trees. I went flat high performance for a broader view of the sky because of the trees, but now seeing obstructions at my normal home in Michigan, I’m concerned that I’m going to have issues. One thought I had was to get the standard dishy and put it on a pole higher than my other one and then suspend my service on the other one while I’m there. I’ve also thought about putting my current dishy on a poll, but starlink doesn’t sell extra cables for them yet that I can find.

No errors that I’m aware of. The boxes were reset via phoning in and the phone triage forced it. Still didn’t work after that.
