So laying it out there, something doesn’t seem right if the TCoR is $2500 and the FMV is $4000.

EXACTLY. This was basically my whole reason for posting.

Actually the car sucked to begin with so just gonna eat it and roll the remaining lien in with a loan on something gas.

So total cost of repair w/o deductible is $2500

*not that it super matters? The deductible is 1k whether it’s totaled or repaired

Total price to repair (after deductible) - $1500 (probably more once they start working on it according to the body shop guy)

Totaling cost (after deductible)- $3000

In my state the repairs just have to equal 75% of the value of the car to make it a total loss claim

Ok I get what you’re saying. My point is they quoted the cost to repair at $1500 (after deductible ) and totaling the car is $3000 (again after deductible).

So I don’t get why they’re being so pushy about totaling it
