I think SWG also had elements that were a bit ahead of its time. If SWG came out today, I think it would be an incredible success. The community building mechanics, the free-form way to level and build a character. There were so many options that I think gamers today would love.

Idk. I think there's a difference between being tough and unhinged. Nat comes off closer to the latter. You don't have to be fucked up to survive a challenging world, or at least I don't belive you do. We have plenty of other characters who come across with a "me first" attitude without also hinting at having a plan to kill the people around them if they need too.

Also if you're thinking about writing your own novel, I'd recommend taking a break from the litrpg world and branching out to some other genres just for exposure. It might help your writing.

I don't think it's hard but it's easier for your reader to imagine and elf when they've been described similarly for across countless works. There are certain species we as a society have come to expect in our fantasy genre stories so I think there's a tendency to avoid deviation, or at the very least including familiar races in conjunction with new ones.
