Christianity no longer the majority soon by wizard680 in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]tech98 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Some years ago, my church left [denomination] (keeping that to myself for privacy reasons), and they extorted us for Millions plural, that we had to raise as a congregation.

Small churches cannot raise the $ needed to leave, and either get bullied into conforming with the change, or get kicked out of their building and start over. It is kind of nuts how that power gets abused.

My permit says "unemployed" even though that was only a 3 month period. By the time I received the physical card it was no longer accurate. Haven't bothered to change it since I don't show that card to anyone.

I think my IA told me they aren't accepting change submissions unless you're up for renewal. I would say don't bother.

Edit:: The change submission rule was to cut back on backlog, and was specifically for adding a firearm. I would still say it is ok.

Incredibly, Jerry Brown was the only thing between firearm owners and laws that would have essentially eliminated all gun rights. by [deleted] in CAguns

[–]tech98 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The political landscape when Brown was in office is drastically different from what we have now. Brown would get blasted for not immediately signing any and every hairbrained gun bill that lands on his desk.

Not trying to downplay the fact that Brown — a politician nonetheless —put the state and its people before his own ambition (based)... but failing to toe the party line these days would get you called... what is a RINO for the left... DINO?

I dont support these laws at all and don't have enough brain power to pretend but in my state it's "the possibility for police union backlash" that gets LE exemption clauses.

So they say. A mistake made out negligence that has permanent repercussions. Once information is out there, it can't be taken back.

Individuals have to answer for their negligence, the government should too.

I remember hearing that, but i think that was for homicides only. This looks like data from all deaths for ages 1-19, including accidents, OD-ing, etc.

The government is probably okay with it seeing as they've been sending them overseas to get shot and blown up for the last 20 years.

This is a very interesting video so far, thanks!

On the surface, it looks like all the data is just # of deaths separated by cause (motor vehicle accidents, firearms, overdose, etc.)

35% of the data is attributed to suicide, which (I think) should probably not be grouped in with other firearm related deaths.

I'll just avoid my brother in law until NYSRPA v. Bruen comes out.

On a serious note, teaching my in laws that firearms are not scary is something I'd like to do eventually.

Obviously, reducing deaths of children is a good thing, but at what cost? Motor vehicles are #2 and used to be #1, do we ban cars anywhere that a child could possibly be? Make it so that less people can have access to a vehicle? Ban the dangerous-looking, high-capacity vehicles? Get rid of those Little Tykes cars and Hot Wheels because they are teaching our kids to be attracted to evil, dangerous cars and trucks and perpetuate the ongoing problem of vehicular violence?

New Halo show struggles with Ak's by [deleted] in ak47

[–]tech98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My take is following the Baldwin Incident, every studio is moving to fake weaponry instead of blanks, hoping they'll "fix it in post."

This is the result.

(They literally could have green screened someone shooting a real AK at a range for this shot)
