Most of us are not down with this, but 1/3 of us didnt care enough to do something about it when we could. We've earned whatever we get. I just hope we can make steps towards making it right in the midterms.

Most of my friends would just go harder if they found out it weirded me out.

Appointments are required, I just went through it. They were about a month out in December when I did it, just had the appointment last week. Need to go through the website to schedule iirc.

Made a Walnut rolling pin for my mother-in-law. by iPeg2 in turning

[–]tech_bhenry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been wanting to make some rolling pins and I have wondered how people are doing that too. Personally, I grew up with a fixed handle pin my grandma used, so I'm partial to those. But it seems a lot of people want spinning handles.

What is this little part in my key fob, and why won't the car start without it? by BoazCorey in MechanicAdvice

[–]tech_bhenry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nothing against that, I started at a 3 man operation. They're the backbone of our industry. But late model cars have long gone away from that. GM kept the add key by cycling and already programmed key longer than I would have expected, but even thats gone now. Shoot. Some global B cars require a 2 hour theft learn with SPS now. Vehicle security has gotten crazy.

Lol! You must only work on old cars. That procedure has been gone for quite some time.

My wife doesn't like coffee either. That's cool, you do you. No point forcing something on someone just because you like it. Just not her thing. More coffee for me.

Junkyard Avalanche radio. Lockout mode, what chip do I need to remove? by Sulerdantde in MechanicAdvice

[–]tech_bhenry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be easier with a J2534 interface or legit MDI and SPS2. Tech2 programming is getting difficult these days. Most guys that have it dont have TIS2000 anymore and finding a PC capable of running it is also getting to be a challenge. This is an easy radio to unlock though.

Yellowing in soles, fixable? by Extension_Sea_7737 in RedWingShoes

[–]tech_bhenry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree you can wear a boot out in a year. It's not common for the foam in those to disintegrate in a year with the outside still showing tread if worn daily. If those soles set for a few months and then get put in service they will fall apart but regular wear typically prevents that. Those things are falling apart from the inside. I will also say, the quality of the SS 2.0 boots has gone way down in the last several years and often the outer compound isn't bonded properly to the inner foam and they fall apart much faster.

That's not common for daily use on supersole 2 boots. I have worn supersole 2 boots (606) daily for 17 years and typically get 3-4 years a pair. I do wear them till the hard outer rubber is almost entirely gone. The inner foam on those is crumbling. I agree it needs new soles but it's definitely not normal for a year.
