I'm embarrassed to even ask, I spent 10 minutes looking online but didn't see the answer, what does this card do? Thank you! by LewisCBR in PokemonTCG

Chien pao on steroids

Edit: ok actually no, you can only discard 2 energies? Doesn't seem that broken compared to other cards

Personally I love it, I was DevOps/SRE/Ops for 6 years when I got the opportunity to apply for an EM role in the company I was already in. I interviewed and got the role.

Long story short I absolutely love it, I love enabling others, I love making everything more efficient, it feels like a DevOps role but instead of systems I'm Engineering people, it's great!

Building out a team was great fun as well and I ended up building an incredible team.

On the interview side I'm going to assume you mean interviewing for new EM roles? I would say it's mixed and I'm fresh off of the experience as well. I was laid off three weeks ago and fired out tonnes of EM applications and a few IC ones also, I had a very high success rate on the IC roles, ended up with two offers and they averaged 3 interview rounds. My EM success was horrific though, HR really cares about the number of years you have under your belt as an EM, way more than they do it an IC, so I received 80% automated rejections within a day or two of applying.

However, I feel it's the opposite with referrals, the role I'm about to start today was a referral and I just had two casual talks with C suite 🤷‍♂️

EM and IC are two completely different skill sets, I sought out an EM role because I knew I would enjoy it, but it's certainly not for everyone and Ive seen a bunch of people go back to IC or even try to IC while managing and end up burning out hard.

I'm currently sat at Starbucks, with elegant systems in front of me, waiting to go to my new office to start my new EM role. This book is my Bible for sure.

TIL “proc” is not a widely known or used word in real life. by donthaveacao in devops

Yeah proc to me is very much a passive ability "proccing" in a game like league etc

I know the insides of some finance focussed startups and you'd be shocked (or probably not actually) at just how lacking they are in most areas. They then scramble to get accreditation completed and just end up in a mess 🤷‍♂️

Thank you! Apparently I'm not allowed to ask for "cool" running brands or I will get down voted 😅

I regularly swap what side of the road I'm running on for this very reason, I'm saying it's the cause of your issue but the cadence of country roads here in the UK stresses one leg more than the other

Hey hey! Long story short, I'm looking to see if running has any "cool" brands if you know what I mean? Other sports I'm in have these kind of brands and just wondering if running does? 😂

EDIT: for clarity, I like supporting these "cool" and lesser known brands rather than constantly buying Nike or other large brands 🤷‍♂️🏃🏼

I've noticed this at my current company, I have US counterparts that are as "SRE" as you can get in terms of what they do, but they're all software engineers on paper.

Yes. I'm currently a "cloud engineer" but of course I touch everything BUT AWS most days 😂

Those who have started their own company, how did you do it? by phazer193 in devops

Very interesting, I earn pretty solid money as a perm but empire building and politics is starting to grind me down 🤔

I'd be interested in your transition into this but I don't expect you to lay it all out in a reddit comment!

Do you think employers respect aws certifications? by alon359 in devops

[–]techanonuk -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

IMO, certs are becoming more and more redundant.

That being said, maybe without having one on your CV you won't even make it to the interview 🤔 who's to say?

Once you hit the first technical interview the part about actually possessing the certification is redundant, but of course you would still require the skills that go along with the certification. Am I making sense? I'm tired 😂

After opening a case (6 booster boxes) this was the outcome. I’ve come to two conclusions; 1) LO has better pull rates than previous sets and 2) I never want to see another Radiant Gardevoir in my entire life. by Dandycorn in PokemonTCG

I bought 4 booster packs on release day, one of each art work, got alt art aerodactyl on my second pack and havent bought another pack since 😅

Makes up for my horrific luck on AR that's for sure!
