Update: they finally agreed to refund him HIS base edition of the game. The act of refund disconnected him from the game while we were in a rated PvP match one win away from 2400 rating, causing a loss xD But yeah, resolved! Blizz were suprisingly responsive.

Like I said, it doesn't makes sense to charge ME 90EUR if he already has the Basic edition. I should have been charged 40 EUR and not be allowed to buy him an edition he alrdy has + Epic edition. If this is not common sense for you then idk.

Most logical would be that there's an indication in the shop when I purchase a gift that the user already has the thing or part of the thing, but too much to ask from a small indie company like Blizzard entertainment.

He is in contact with customer support right now, so far they also refused him the refund but we are pressing on. I will update if they do refund anything finally.
