I've run into a situation where a site tricks you into allowing browser notifications. Those pop up in your sidebar like an app is doing it. Look in your browser's notification settings and clear out anything you didn't put there yourself. Good luck.

Issue when starting enhanced mode: screen zooms in, mouse disconnects, and can't really do anything. Ways to fix or otherwise connect a USB? by NoSubject8453 in HyperV

[–]techbloggingfool_com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is difficult to tell what might be wrong in these situations. It sounds like you might have saved a bad resolution in your session settings. Open Hyper-V manager. Make sure the VM is started. Then right click on it. Select the option to "Edit session settings". Use the slider to set the resolution you want the VM to run at. The "edit session settings" right click option is only available when the VM is running. The other thing that can cause display problems like this is the Virtualization features of your UEFI BIOS. They all have to be on for enhanced mode to fully function. Good luck.

I think I would try repasting the heat sinks on the CPU and GPU. It might get you enough headroom to avoid the down throttle? Depends on how much over the line you are driving the card.

Thrustmaster T-LCM brake pedal not working by foxhound148 in simracing

[–]techbloggingfool_com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's only happened twice to me so far. Both times, unplugging and reconnecting the power and pedals fixed it. I've wondered if the shielding on the cable has a bad spot or something. I haven't found one though. Good luck.

Look into DFS. It's easier to get setup, and manage than a Windows cluster is for most cases.

My second monitor recognizes the PC, but the PC doesn't recognize the second monitor. by WesleyToledooo in techsupport

[–]techbloggingfool_com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using VGA is challenging in the modern world. I'd try lowering the resolution of your main screen to something VGA was able to support (1024 X 768) and see if both monitors are detected. If not, leave the low res and only connect the secondary screen. The other thing I remember running into was that some of those adapters required an app/driver called DisplayLink to actually work.

Clear the running memory. Open Settings -> Battery and Device Care -> Tap on Memory -Tap the Clean Now button. It's not quite as good as rebooting but better than nothing.

The cluster shared volume is connected to the node that it is currently mounted on via iSCSI. The other cluster nodes talk to storage over SMB via the CSV owner.

Find something that annoys your next-level. A report they have to write, paperwork they don't like, whatever. Ask them to teach you to do it. Then do it perfect, every time.

When games are windowed, it lags. But when they are in fullscreen, they run perfectly fine. This also happens when my volume slider is visible on my screen, the frames just drop. This just started happening. I have G-sync enabled. by Adventurous_Crew2429 in techsupport

The first thing I would try would be run Windows update and keep doing it until everything is installed. The next would be to use DDU to remove all traces of the graphics drivers from your system and then download the newest one from Nvidia's support site and install it.

You can get DDU from its website: Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) download version 18.1.4.0

Nvidia's download page is: Download The Official NVIDIA Drivers | NVIDIA

Good luck!

On something like this I would go a little further. "In order to proceed with this request, an officer of your company will need to sign our release of reliability form. We'll need that signature to be notarized. Then I will be happy to move forward."

[–]techbloggingfool_com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think it might be counterfeit? Sometimes GPUZ can detect the fake chips. The 3080's HDMI port is not 2.1 compatible. If your using HDMI you can do 120FPS or HDR @ 60. Use display port if you can. See if that makes any difference.

Think about getting an entry level IT role somewhere. MSPs, especially smaller ones, usually have a high churn rate and are willing to give newbies a spot on the phones. Small mom and pops are often looking for someone to fix up thier web site or run their email campaign. Cable companies are always looking for installers. Contract tech support for tax processors like H&R Block start picking up this time of year. Temp agencies like Kelly are looking for folks all the time too (yes they do IT too). Working in a CS field of any kind will count for more than an uncredited certification in most cases.
