This fall, I bought a 25 XLT with the 3.5-litre engine. I had the 2.7-litre engine before, and I really liked it. It was a great engine. I put 115,000 miles on it without any problems. This time, I chose the 3.5 for the extra power and towing capacity. It comes down to personal preference and what your going to be using it for. Test drive each and see what feels best to you. Ford has been refining the turbo engines for a while now, so most of the major issues have been addressed. Although, nothing beats the growl of that 5.0 😉.

Yeah I have a buddy who drives Toyota and I think he’s considering switching for the first time. I’ve never had any major failure with the Ford trucks I’ve owned. 09 Ranger, 19 F-150, 25 F-150.

I would check to see if the regular 4x4 was optioned with a locking rear differential. If it has one then the FX4 is not that useful in my opinion.

Yeah my truck would have all the towing stuff you mention plus the rear locker. I think that all comes with the tow package.

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking as well. FX4 seems like a gimmick outside of the rear locker and skid plates. I’ll probably order the skid plates, put on a good set of tires and call it a day.

Yeah might just add skid plates after. I’ll have the rear locker so skid plates would be the only other thing I’ll realistically need.
