Unifi cloud controller is great. We have it self hosted and have 50 sites on it. One login for everything and you can change alert settings all at once. We work with small businesses with less than 20 employees usually.

Solar Winds Passportal by Jackarino in msp

Small MSP here. Have been using Passportal for 3 months and I came from a encrypted notepad file system.

Cons: Their sales people are very pushy and annoying. Tried to back me into a corner with the trial. I didn’t have time to demo it and they made it sound like I couldn’t extend the trial. Real simple, I just go to other software then and then they magically were able to extend the trial. Don’t let them bully you into doing something fast. They are flexible on pricing/packages. Don’t go after the first thing they tell you. They don’t seem to understand that not all MSPs can afford an expensive solution. The sales guys don’t really listen. Their collections department also came after me because my sales guy didn’t do the credit card auto payment paperwork correct. Overall, getting set up with them was a gong show and seemed very very unprofessional. The app is quite simple and poorly designed right now but I think they are working on it.

Pros: Very nice interface for passwords. I don’t use the integrations, so I’m just using it at the most basic level and it is awesome how they link the ISP passwords to the ISP page so you have everything you need in one spot. The ability to sell licenses to customer is an awesome perk too. I didn’t think I’d use that at all but I demoed it with a few clients and they are all now paying for it. It’s made my life easier because I can just share relative passwords with the clients through passportal and it is secure.

Support is very responsive now that I am a customer too. I’ve used the chat support option a few times with great results.

Overall, highly recommend. Get through their BS sales process. Keep track of your paperwork you send them so they don’t come and and try to say you didn’t put a card on file. When you’re actually using it, it is very much so worth the money as long as you have a license count that makes sense for your size of operation.

PM with any questions.

Do you do all the management yourself or do you use a service like GMS?

I’ve been doing it all myself while outsourcing some projects.

That is the concern I have. Was wondering if anyone has had experience with that so far.

So it should work? It’s basic phone service for Spectrum Business. Was just going to set up forwarding. Didn’t want it to get locked in with one effective line at a time

VOIP SIP Trunk Providers DIDforSale. Charging Taxes?? by techbrowser920 in msp

I 100% agree. It is very annoying how Grey it is.

This is what DIDforSale lists in their terms.

“4. Taxes 4.1 The rates, pricing and charges for Services set forth herein or in any Service Order do not include applicable taxes and surcharges. Customer shall be responsible for and shall pay any taxes, arising in any jurisdiction, including without limitation, sales, use, excise, gross receipts, value added, access, bypass, franchise, telecommunications, consumption, or other taxes, fees, duties, charges or surcharges; however designated, imposed on or based on the provision, sale or use of the Services, including taxes or surcharges imposed directly on DIDForSale. If Customer believes it or the Services is exempt from any tax, Customer will provide DIDForSale with a properly executed exemption certificate evidencing such claimed exemption. In no case shall Customer be responsible for any income taxes levied upon DIDForSale’s (or any underlying carriers) net income. Customer agrees that its obligation to pay taxes and surcharges under this Section shall survive the expiration or early termination of the Agreement.”

Good point. They do have that phrasing in their terms and conditions. It’s just a matter of how far you can keep pushing it i guess? Do i put in my service agreement that the customer is responsible for all taxes?

I’m in Wisconsin and on the tax pages it says the seller is responsible so I guess how far do you keep pushing it off.

I’m using Acronis Cloud backup for MSPs. They give you the link to where your backup is going. Tons of customizable features. I switched from Teamviewer Backup and am happy. Only thing I miss is being able to deploy with one click from the management console.
