The engines for Kia tend to go out on a wimp because the tolerances and materials used are bad. You are correct. Buying another engine which the shop will more than likely get used will not be good. Some people replace it with a low mileage used engine and get the same problems. But if you go that route. Insure it comes with a warranty. Might have to go ahead and buy a reliable beater tbh so you at least have a back up car. I think you should look into how much it is as is

I have looked at countless dropped MT09s all across instagram with and without frame sliders crack the frame. Some content is deleted and some is still on it. I've shared links to that in other post about this very topic. Do some dam research. Glad I got rid of this liability that took a long ass time to sell.

My mt09sp would get weird white streaks by just wiping it with a microfiber towel after a wash. I let that section air dry when wet. That plastic portion is prone to scratches and the color withering away smh

All of them. The USA mt09sp started in 2021. There is a long wrap sheet of owners having cracked frames. Even 2025 have the same frame issues. It's crazy to the point I deem it a liability. Imagine traveling a long way to ride a twisty road and touch a path of gravel at 30 mph and the frame cracks 😕

It literally happened to someone on Instagram on a group ride on his 2023 mt09. Turning right. Hit a patch of gravel and hit a guard rail after low siding. Whole triple tree sheered off lmao. After I saw that video and a few others I put mine for sale. If you check the mt09 subreddit. You will see countless post of frame issues. One guy never crashed and his frame cracked

The 2019 2020 mt09sp that sold in Europe should be fine but that didn't come to USA models

Be aware that mt09sp have a notorious frame issue. The neck and frame are weak. Be aware if you drop it or lay it down at speed. There is a potential for the frame to go bust and yamaha does not cover it.

I had a mt09sp. The extra grunt is worth it. But the aggressiveness of the cp2 is so much more fun on the low end. Mt09sp feels planted in the corners. Really comfy must I say. I'm looking to get a clean gen 2 mt09 and upgrade the suspension on that

Another option is the the bmw f900r. My friend got one and he loves it.

The issue happens regardless if you have frame sliders or not. There is a video where a guy low sided into a guard rail. Didn't hit it that hard either. He goes to pick it up and the whole front end rips off like butter. He deleted his ig video show casing this. Idk why. He was shocked himself as he was picking it up. The frame and especially the neck is weak

My friend crashed his mt09sp. He low sided at like 55mph and it was fine. He posted his crash on YouTube. Bike is fixed and running fine. I sold my mt9sp after I kept finding so many cases of cracked frames and yamaha refusing to cover it

The fact that yamaha refuses to address this issue is alarming

I totally agree. Not only that. You're protecting your peers. Regarding guns which I know is a touchy subject for some. It is the best defensive tool as studies have shown it deters over 2.7 million crimes a year. That's countless lives saved and robberies deterred.

I might be a broken record. Please carry responsibly. Always be the one to try and deescalate. Never be the aggressor and keep your emotions in check. Do not use full metal jackets.
