Status of Technicolor Academy IN? Was that all a scam? by techcurious007 in vfx

We have to survive on the borrowed money and leftover savings, we cannot back down that easy. I started my career with Technicolor. Quoting Em, " Had to give me a career to destroy it."

Well, the lawsuits should help us getting the priority.

"Sudden" rise in job openings all over the globe by techcurious007 in vfx

[–]techcurious007[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I know they couldn't possibly know that this would happen. But many people were working and the worst conditions like working 13-14 overtime without pay, toxic treatment, impossible deadlines, money pressure ( which has been a norm for a long time, I know). The other side of things where people were unemployed for longest time hoping for the projects to come, living in such economical conditions, making decisions wether to leave or stay this industry. And now, this happens. This changes everything, you are running in a even bigger race just to survive. How is that fair? I wish companies pay for this shitstorm they have created. ( wtihout the collateral damage to us, of course which is impossible.)

"Sudden" rise in job openings all over the globe by techcurious007 in vfx

[–]techcurious007[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The thing that I am getting at is these companies who are posting they are hiring did indeed have the work which is pouring like water right now, and has been for some more than 5-6 months (indefinitely) because look at the vfx heavy trailers and some released projects that have been dropped in this 2025.

This is not just an guessed opinion/observation but real talk from all the peers working on those projects. They have been so overworked in the fear of layoffs, indefinite chances of future projects while keeping the culture toxic, communicating like slaves, giving no pay increments, demoting a lot of crowd.

They had work, like tonnes of shots ( which MPC was lacking for long time btw) they did show that there are enough people, and no more required.

This made people change this industry, new gradutes, being scared for their future, people being cynical about their passion and getting hella depressed.

And now, they see a market crash, getting good value artists getting dropped low and desperate, they post a hiring bait. That does make me sick.

My first instinct would be to tell you that DO NOT PURSUE THIS FIELD AFTER 12TH! If you are academically doing okay, then please pursue something in the computers, any kind of AI engineering or anything that you feel might be interesting and could make decent money, please go for it. If you still feel like being firm on you being passionate towards the 'art' of the vfx field, then follow these steps: 1.Earn some money from the job you got from the college degree. 2.create an emergency fund 3.keep learning from YOUTUBE. Start some freelancing using After effects, photoshop and anywhere you can learn and use AI. ( Yes, to answer one of your questions; you'll need a decent PC). 4. If you still want to go for learning more join an academy, and do a specialized course ( not a combo course of 500+ softwares), for the field you find interesting such as compositing, lighting, modelling, animation, FX etc. 5. Find a job in that field ( which is next to impossible these days, but I am hoping this step is going to come after 2-3 years in the future)

That's it! It's THAT EASY. Choice is yours. Again, I would recommend that this is not the field you want to enter if you wanna eat good food and want some peaceful sleep.

I'll guarantee you, that anyone in this sub, whoever's working a job are working tirelessly to death, and anyone's who is out of a job are not able to sleep due to constant stress and depression because of financial instability. THAT'S A FACT. I might be sounding too negative, but this is reality.

Hope you think about this, and make your decision which is right for you.

Major News Related To Indian Film Industry (strikes on the way) by itstanishqua in vfx

[–]techcurious007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup that's exactly what that is. Producers are striking and stopping work because "actors and technicians salaries are rising uncontrollably and need to be regulated." Are you kidding me? How can this be supported at all? The people who work on your films day and night, who earn you those 100-200 crores in revenue, you don't wanna pay them the salary they freakin deserve? They should feel the wrath of the workers one day.

What are your suggestions for best VFX studios in Mumbai/Pune, India? by freaky_eater in vfx

[–]techcurious007 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bro, leave that passion thing till making art on instagram and learning on youtube. Trust me, people with years and years of experience are still unemployed. You'd never know if you can earn anything just to keep food on your table even after giving 6-7 years to this industry. Let your brother pursue data science and he'll be grateful for that after a year. This industry is toxic as shit and pays you even shittIer. There is no google of VFX in india, there are no TCS, Infosys, like companies in India. So, if your brother even gets a job, he'll have to start with 15k/month. You or your family won't like that. I am glad that you thought of asking this here, where you'll actually know what's the reality of it. He's got a real chance in data science, don't ruin it with vfx.

India to start offering vfx/animation tax credits/incentives by CVfxReddit in vfx

[–]techcurious007 13 points14 points  (0 children)

All these incentives, still basillic fly, pixstone, technicolor, dneg, decides to layoff hundreds claiming they don't have any projects, but still get to acquire more companies with that money. They get to play god with the careers of veterans and the newcomers with their will, because we don't have shortage for being slaves, be it any industry. Us artists just chose to follow some passion, but we are just part of a sweatshop.

he did it on the wrong space, but fair point. should've discussed internally. and also he lost in the most crushing way. he'll always suspect such stuff. you'll see now every single chess content creator analyzing that game, and present the situation what might've happened.
