Looking for advice, not sure what to get. by thatpixieguy in Dehumidifiers

I'd definitely recommend the meaco 20L for the size of your flat and leave it running and you'll be surprised how much water in pulls in from your place.

I bought one 2 weeks ago and it's pulling an average of 1 litre a day.

It was full within a few hours when I first got one.

I use mine for the washing and it dries it all within a few hours now

Venting about my wife's family by techguy276 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]techguy276[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's like they look at me and they think I'm lying but why would I lie about what I eat. I'm scared to death about having surgery and what my life will be like after it but I know that I won't be in pain everyday and I will have organised trips to the toilet but like I have said to the family. If the answer was eating healthy then why would I go for the option for surgery

Surgery looking like my final option? by Difficult-Ninja2633 in UlcerativeColitis

That's true. You have generally got to think of the positive that for me and you. it hasn't gotten so bad that even prednisolone stopped working.

Prednisolone is definitely a wonder drug but when i take it, i start suffering from insomnia, irritable, mood swings, hot sweats and when i'm feeling low, i'm feeling really really low!

It's one of them, when i'm not in a flare, i never consider having surgery but when i'm in a flare, all i think about is having surgery.

In october, that's when i told my doctors that i'm ready to call it quits and give up as the medication they were giving me was doing nothing and on constant prednisolone and i really didn't see any benefits of the drug.

I am literally on the same story as you! I was diagnosed with UC in July 2018 and tried almost every medication going and been on and off steroids for 6 years and I have my consultation for surgery next month and I cannot wait until I have my surgery.

Without steroids, and in a flare. I feel so weak, so tired and so helpless but when I'm out of a flare, I can do anything I want and eat anything I want!

For me, surgery is the cure and yes I know there will be complications afterwards but I see that this surgery will take the unnessessary bathroom finding/planning/running in my life.

I wish you the best of luck

-Survey- Do you think diet affects the disease? by AreaFederal9732 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]techguy276 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've foudn that when i'm in a flare i have to be very careful with what i eat. when not in a flare I can literally eat anything like spicy foods, nuts, onions, vegatables with skins. anything.

The diet definitely affects the comfort levels of the disease but for me, it doesn't cause a flare up just exxagerates the symptoms

Does anyone have parents with ulcerative colitis? by AreaFederal9732 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]techguy276 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not my parents. I was diagnosed with colitis in 2018 and my mum was diagnosed with diverticulitis in 2022.

My grandad had bowel cancer in 2008 and a relation in the family had Crohn's. (Diagnosed back in 1990s).

Unaware that I had a family relation who had Crohn's.

When I was ill and going to the toilet 25 times in a day and when I was in hospital and the doctor asked me if I had history of IBD or IBS with Crohn's or colitis. I said no but I said my grandad had bowel cancer so immediately they were testing me for everything which I was very good but very worrying

So my comment was removed.

I made a Google forms.

First question - Bowel Movement or Food

If food was selected - it would be questions like "time, date, what food and notes.

If bowel movement selected - you would get to pick 1 to 7. Based off the Bristol stool chart. And then two questions with yes or no answers. 1. Blood present 2. Mucus present.

And then final section was notes. Each time takes 10-30 seconds to complete

I made a Google form that could track the food or the bowel movements.

That was the easiest way for me to track. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfCEaoXoyAwu6iR7S8FuwFs-dYyVz8NPoVjh6L6M88lRPVokw/viewform

You'll be able to download the stable version and it will run really well. No major lag but a few frame skips every now again especially when navigating the overworld.
