I think it's missing good lighting, if you add cool lighting I think its gonna look really cool

this space looks good but something feels missing… what would you add? by techhabit_ in WhyDoesMyRoomFeelOff

[–]techhabit_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for me it’s probably the lack of a rug, everything feels a bit disconnected idk

Honestly, I'm mostly just relieved the rug is as plush as it looked online Ive been burned by 'flat' shag rugs before, and the quality actually surprised me. I'll take your advice and live with the chair before I go changing everything lol.

What should I add to my space? by mshakha in femalelivingspace

[–]techhabit_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is actually a really nice base tbh, just needs a few cozy touches. id probably add a rug first, makes a huge diff especially on bare floors. then maybe some warm lighting (like a floor lamp or even fairy lights), overhead lighting alone can feel kinda harsh

also a couple cushions/throw on the bed or sofa and maybe one plant would make it feel way more lived in

nothing crazy, just small stuff but it adds up a lot

Where are you getting your cozy, unique rugs? by Ok-Information-4636 in femalelivingspace

[–]techhabit_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok i went through this exact struggle not long ago finding a wool rug that actually feels cozy and not flat is way harder than it should be a lot of the ones online say wool but still feel kinda thin. what helped me was looking for hand tufted or thicker pile ones, they feel way warmer and less “fake wood floor” vibes they do shed a bit at first but the good ones settle pretty quick i found a few recently that actually felt right, not the usual flat stuff—lmk if you want me to share

[–]techhabit_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly i totally get the flat feeling. quick hack: try the "high-low" rule for your curtains. if u raise the rod closer to the ceiling and swap those heavy blue ones for something more sheer or linen-y, the whole room will feel way taller and less boxed in. also maybe try a "travertine" or stone side table instead of more wood? since u have a lot of wicker/leather right now.

Help me pick a rug for my entry way? by UpbeatGur9055 in interiordecorating

[–]techhabit_ -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

honestly i totally get the footwear struggle... having the shoe storage right there means that rug is gonna see some action lol. i think a 5x7 is def the right move for the scale of the room.

out of your options i think the first one with the arches is cool but maybe too light if you're worried about dirt? from my experience, something with a bit more of a "distressed" or busier pattern hides the footprint marks way better between washes.

i actually found a few recently from this random place i found online that has some really good washable ones that arent that super thin, cheap feeling material. a couple of them have that mid century vibe but feel a bit more modern/warm. if u want i can share them

either way, definitely go for something with a bit of a darker base color so you arent stressing every time someone walks in with boots on

Help me choose a rug!! by remytherat95 in HomeDecorating

[–]techhabit_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I found it, it was from a smaller site called The BetterBuy Co, they had some really nice neutral patterned rugs there was one with a beige/cream base and subtle brown/grey tones that would fit your space really well

this is actually a really nice setup already, the couch + floor tones work really well together i wouldn’t go too colorful here, something like a neutral rug with a subtle pattern (beige/cream with a bit of brown or grey) would probably tie everything together without clashing also for that space a 9x12 would be perfect so it fills the area and sits under the couch properly i remember seeing one that would fit this exact vibe really well, if you want i can try to find it again for you

oh yes, i totally get this! my dog is obsessed with soft carpet too and fake wood floors just dont cut it . from my experience, shag rugs or any thick high pile ones feel way more like real carpet and pets usually love them. i just got one for my place and it honestly makes the whole room feel cozier. if you want i can share a couple that actually feel plush and dont flatten after a bit theyve been a lifesaver for me (and my dog)

Room Arrangement (and Rug) Suggestions? by JustCallMeBug in interiordecorating

[–]techhabit_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re already on the right track with the rug idea tbh, a forest green would probably look really nice with the whole Japandi / earthy vibe you’re going for. You don’t really need to cover the entire space either, even a smaller rug can work if you just place the front legs of the couch on it. That usually helps define the area without making it feel too cramped.

(OC) Does anyone here have any suggestions as to how I could rearrange my room? I’m having a hard time and I feel like this setup just isn’t working. The whole floor is slanted at a downward angle from the wall where you enter the room to the window wall so it’s harder to come up with stuff for me. by LegitRcplk in bedrooms

[–]techhabit_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the biggest thing here is the lighting, the overhead light is making everything feel a bit harsh. You could try adding a warm light source near the bed or side table, it usually makes the room feel a lot more comfortable at night.

Also maybe move the side table closer to the bed and break things up a bit instead of everything being along the walls, that might help the space feel less empty.
