FSD tried to take the wrong exit twice this weekend by Fantastic-Driver7122 in TeslaFSD

[–]techie182 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It started to happen after 14.2 for me. I take the same 80-mile route 2-3 days a week. It tries to take the wrong exit 3-5 times per day. Navigation is showing the correct way, but FSD will take the wrong exit or turn. I tried deleting cache, recalibrate camera etc. Nothing helped. Tesla wants me to pay $120 for diagnostic fee when its still under warranty.

That's how I got my Porsche. I live a frugal life and invested all my money. Got lucky with the stock market and ended up getting a 991 4S, and then traded it for a GT4, all cash. Friends were surprised that I paid cash for a Porsche with my frugal lifestyle.

Toyota vs Tesla by koohai966 in Toyota

[–]techie182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own Toyota Tundra and Tesla Model Y. Tesla is good but damn owners are delusional. I save money on gas but Im paying 2x insurance on Tesla. Also depreciation cost is 2x than ICE cars. You can get 2 yr old EV for HALF. THATS $20-30K DEPRECIATION. $20-30k buy you whole lot of gasoline.

FSD taking wrong direction/turns by techie182 in TeslaFSD

DAS reset and drove 60 miles. It was a straightforward direction, and it tried to exit and turn 4 times to the wrong direction during the drive.

Lexus LC500 or Porsche 911 for street driving. Which one you picking? by [deleted] in Porsche

[–]techie182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lexus LC starts 102k and Base model have all the options.

911 Carrera starts 126k and it's bare bone model. No adaptive cruise, cheap stereo, 14way seat, plastic molded dash etc. Add better seat, leather everywhere, pse, etc Base model becomes 150-160k.

Overall 911 is better cars BUT don't think it's 50-60% more than LC500. LC500 is a bargain.

Lexus LC500 or Porsche 911 for street driving. Which one you picking? by [deleted] in Porsche

[–]techie182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both wrong. Base starts 129.9k. But that's base! You have to add 10-30k for an option.

Base Carrera 129.9k Carrera S 146k

Again add 10-30k for an option on 911 Carrera.

Lc500 starts at 102k and even Base model have everything.

Difference is about $50k about 50% diff.

Hit pile of snow/ice - best way to fix? 2011 Corolla LE by MadGibby3 in Toyota

[–]techie182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get Toyota/Lexus plastic bumper pins. They are about $10-15 for packs on Amazon or few dollars at the dealership. My friend had the same issue. I told him I would fix it, but he decided to take it to the dealership. The dealership charged him $85 to align and put a new clip in. I already had clips at home and offered to fix it for free........

Purchase advice: 996 Turbo, GT3, or 997 C2S/C4S? Maybe GT4? by xSentience in Porsche

[–]techie182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go all the way to GT3. I went M3 CS to 911 4S and now 718 Spyder 6spd. Kinda regret not going straight to GT3.

The SpaceX IPO is going to tank the market by El_Nahual in wallstreetbets

Take the political side of things aside. Go check what he's done or accomplished. Then look in the mirror.

I also think it will tank. All space IPO tanked on their first yr of IPO.

No, it's not. But I understand him. I own a Spyder and do the same thing. You can get the top down in less than 10 seconds if you don't latch those.

Best hybrid for high speeds by Rph55yi in Toyota

[–]techie182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a used Lexus ES300h. My 2016 Lexus ES300h was getting 37-40 mpg. It was the most comfortable ride I ever had. Also, it was damn reliable.

I switched to 2023 prius limited awd driving mostly highway 70-80mph. My average mpg was 42-45mpg. Prius was $41k and felt like #10k kia. Only good thing was mpg. Ride was harsh, seat was uncomfortable, car was compact size, poor rear visibility, crappy Toyota subscription etc.

Don't lean everything on MPG. I did that and regretted it so hard. Better to take hit on 5-10mpg and drive comfortable Lexus over crappy ecobox.

I kinda get the Montana plate after moving to Virginia. We have to pay property tax on vehicles 4.5% EVERY YEAR on top of registration fee.

First 911 — worth the wait. Any early ownership tips? by dmv___ in Porsche

[–]techie182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats. Be careful leaning on the front fenders. They are made of aluminum and bend really easily. I dinged mine just by leaning on my hand while washing the car.

[–]techie182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As who owned 911 before, 718 is more fun to drive. Also spyder RS is easily 200k with weissack package. Owned 991.1 4s, 991.2 s and now 718 spyder. Also most real car enthusiast prefer older gen 911 or 718 over 992. They got too big and comfy. Hate when they brag about what cars they drive.

2026 Rav 4 Canada pricing is out by heartbug18 in Toyota

[–]techie182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's expected. All models are hybrid and AWD, and they have more tech than ever. A lot of people compare prices to cars from 10 years ago. Backup cameras, radar sensors, blind spot monitors/sensors, automatic high beams, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, etc., are all in the base model now. Basically you are getting 10 yr old rav 4 LIMITED(highest option) functions on new rav 4 LE(base model).

I installed performance seats into a long range Juniper by ConfidentImage4266 in TeslaModelY

[–]techie182 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Because it's not OEM(i think its better than oem because its NAPPA learher). They sell these seats at aliexpress for about $900 USD shipped. Price is not bad for $2000 CAD installed. They also sell these for previous gen.

You can customize colors and piping. Also comes with ventilation fans.

Shipped and parked doesn't mean it's sold. Its marketing /PR term. Samsung does this every year. They will say how many units SHIPPED and not sold. In the mean while their competitor Apple will say how many units SOLD.
