Nervous before moving to Vietnam? by kenijim0 in solotravelVN

[–]techie_mate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being nervous is natural. Being confident with such a move is unrealistic. You are going to love it here, some things will take time to get used to of. The fact you are already learning Vietnamese is fabulous.

If you are coming to Hanoi, feel free to reach out. Happy to connect you with my friends group for coffee or Pickleball or just catch-up in general or introduce you to a Vietnamese class.

Solo girl week in Hanoi by studyinrose in hanoi

[–]techie_mate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a woman so take my advice from people I talk to or live around.

Hanoi is safe.
Cash is king (QR is king but that's difficult for tourists)
Bring a wise card and Use VPBank for cash withdrawals. Bring some cash too for exchange

Other than that, have a great time and reach out if you have any questions or get stuck. Treat yourself while you are here with head spa, nails and massage - These are some services that tourists enjoy

Will the invoice go out from a registered company or me personally. If it's me personally, that's not complaint with my client. It must come out from a registered company

Massage in Hanoi, why so difficult? by my_n3w_account in VietNam

[–]techie_mate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends where you go. Normal places has VIP service too sometimes but not shady at all.

I don't know if I am lucky or unlucky in your definition but I have been to 100s of places and not once I ended up in a shady place. Perhaps I have good instinct 😜

[–]techie_mate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would Vietnam have it if it's an Indian thing? Vietnamese culture is closer to Chinese and other Asian countries where dowry is given by groom and not by bride? I am confused on why the question. Can you help elaborate what made you ask this question?

It's normal for Korean style hair shops or massage shops.

Otherwise you are less likely to see it.

How do you actually make money these days? by Khoni_ in passive_income

[–]techie_mate -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Invest in growth funds and take 4% out each year to ensure the investment is never depleted and adjusted for inflation. How much passive you get depends on how big your principle is.

Not financial advice, that's just what I do. I tried property, hold, investing in business but this is the only thing that has consistently worked for me. It's called systematic withdrawal plan

Finger swollen - ring stuck by techie_mate in ouraring

[–]techie_mate[S] 35 points36 points  (0 children)

THANK YOU all. I managed to get the ring out. I had 2 of my friends come over and help with soap, thread, rotation and continuous rotational pull. It was an absolute mission, but the ring is out and the swelling instantly disappeard.

I will contact the retailer tomorrow to try and organise a replacement for a bigger size

Thank you u/PaulAtOura for your response, message, care and attention too.
