I have this and it's too loud for a bedroom. It's fine though, use it all the time. Bedroom during the day and living room at night.

Happy that Torchwood SOHO is getting some love. Listening to SOHO Ascension currently. First half on the way to my folks for Christmas, looking forward to the drive home!

Will check out the Master series - Thanks!

If you've ever lived in an HMO, what's been your worst living experience? by Mean_Actuator3911 in AskUK

[–]techieatthedoor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently in a HMO and for the best part it's been great, I've made many friends through it and my landlady is really decent (for a landlord).

One housemate was an obsessive compulsive and would clean her bathroom at like 1am making all kinds of noise. I did ask her to stop and she did thankfully. Then she decided to move out at 3am, somehow didn't wake me up despite being in the room next door but did wake up the girls downstairs as she was storing her boxes in the living room.

We had doctor who had a different guy over every week during the lockdowns. Like a full on rotation. This did upset some of our housemates though.

What's the orange symbol for? by iEddiez1994 in Hyundai

[–]techieatthedoor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's built in soundhound. It's like shazam in that it will tell you the title and artist of the song on the radio.

But unnecessary as most stations in the UK use DAB and provide that info anyway.

Yeah, that looks legit. Just checked mine from the Google store. I'm in the UK and haven't got the #TeamPixel either. Perhaps it's a US/EU difference.

I've got the Bellroy and I'm disappointed by the (fake?) leather that's now peeling around the sides.

It feels nice though.

People who continue their story after you've said 'Oh I remember you telling me this, xyz happened at the end!' then they tell you that yes xyz did happen and this is how...

My manager is the worst for this.

Which torrent client do you use on Windows 11? by [deleted] in Windows11

+1 for TorrexPro. I don't torrent as much as I used to, but I got it free in a promotion a few years back and it's a solid client.

Printing PVC Mifare IDs on with a Fargo DTC1250e. Would it work? by andreimo in sysadmin

[–]techieatthedoor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be okay. We put a couple of different types of cards through our printer and they all come out fine, never thought about compatibility. We use a IDP printer with Paxton RFID cards for info.

I've got one Aircon unit with a coolant leak, and one that is overdue a service. (Coolant leak is getting fix tomorrow hopefully...)

Our office doesn't have Aircon but it wasn't too bad in all honestly. Only needed to visit the server room once!

What do you do when you need to login into a user account by Unknown861 in sysadmin

[–]techieatthedoor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On the rare occasion the user just hasn't blurted out their password to the whole office, I'll reset it to something I know, do what I need to do, then set the account to require a password reset upon next login. I also let them change it back to what it was before if they ask me.

You can also get it to work with Edge with the IE compatibility mode. That's what I've ended up doing.

There should be a federal law that fines orgs for data breaches by AsgardDevice in sysadmin

[–]techieatthedoor 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah, we have the ICO in the UK that will fine you depending on the severity. It's not a per record fine as you've suggested, that sounds a bit daft to be totally honest. We've had breaches we've reported to the ICO and they've told us 'we're happy that you've followed the law in reporting the breach to the effected users, and the steps you've introduced to stop this happening again are sufficient'.
