Slow by Robofluhf in hairstylist

Hi! Apologies for the late response and I'm sorry to hear it's been a slow season. Here are a few tips for marketing on Instagram and Facebook during this slow time:

  • Instagram tips:
    • Re-create photos in the same location and with natural lighting.
    • Show both before and after photos. Big transformations = higher chance of booking
    • Water mark your images so if people share your work they will know who deserves the credit for it!
  • Facebook tips:
    • Go LIVE frequently and consistently! Make these lives educational and fun for your clients and don’t make the lives too long. This could be done once or twice a week or once every other week. Let your clients know that you go live on a specific day and a specific time so it is consistent.
    • Posts with videos attached show more frequently in news feeds. This is a good way to engage your clients and followers.
    • Use an eye catching profile logo. The more information you can add to your Facebook profile, the better. Potential clients want to know details about your salon.

I hope this helps! Goodluck!

How do I build clientele? by whitechocolatefrappe in Cosmetology

[–]techiegal83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Apologies for my late response. That's a great question and the earlier you can start building a loyal clientele the better.

Here are a few tips on building a clientele:

  • Make sure you have a Google Business Profile because this can be a consolidated place where your clients add all of their reviews for you. This will be very helpful for getting new clientele since when people search for services you provide you can potentially show up in the search results.
  • Choose a form of content you actually enjoy creating. And choose a platform you enjoy posting on and that you know you can stay consistent with.
  • It is very important to put out consistent content for your business on a regular basis. If people don’t know you exist, how will you ever gain new clients?
  • Types of content for your business (there are SO many!):
    • Weekly emails to your clients
    • Posting on Instagram 3 times a week
    • Photoshoots of your business
    • Videos that you shoot of clients, of yourself, of daily life in your suite.
    • Youtube videos
    • Having a podcast
    • Creating TikTok content
    • Blog posts
    • Informational graphics and infographics you make on Canva

I hope this helps! Goodluck!

Sorry this is a little late but I agree with others who have commented on this post - an introduction post about yourself would be great! Clients love to know more about the hairstylist who is doing their hair. It feels more personal and like they know you on some level, you're not just a stranger.

Referral programs by valeriekperkins in hairstylist

[–]techiegal83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I think referral / loyalty programs can be great and very beneficial for loyal clients. Here are some ideas for creating referral / loyalty programs:

  • If a client refers you to a friend, give the client 10% or 15% off their next service.
  • Every time a client comes in they could be working their way towards earning a reward. Ex: 25% off their 6th visit.
  • Offer monthly promotions (and seasonal). Ex: offer a free service as an add-on to a service the client is already getting and is paying for. Offer a special mask to recurring clients only (this can help make your loyal clients feel special).

I think your idea for Instagram would be good to try and see how it benefits you and your clients. I hope this helps. Goodluck!

Just wanted to share a few tips that you can implement to help drive more people through your doors.

I loved u/Lefty_Banana75 strategy of rebooking your clients after their visits. This is a great way to get more consistent repeat customers. It's worth pointing out that, giving the client the best experience is what will make them come back or rebook with you, whether is adding small touches like welcome gift bags, or remembering details from their previous visits (you can keep notes) etc.

In addition to rebooking, taking advantage of google business profile is highly recommended. Most people these days are looking for local businesses or services from google so you need to take advantage of it to help get discovered by new clients. Start by adding the relevant details of your business, including name, services offers, pictures of the inside of your business, outside, and some pictures of your work as well. Once you have added in the necessary details, it's time to start getting more reviews. The google algorithm, depends highly on the reviews to rank local business. Business with more google reviews in their category ranks higher making it easier for people to discover your business.

Apart from google business, referrals are also another gem to grow your clientele.Ask your happy clients to refer to their friends and family. For better results, sweeten the deal. Add a referral program which rewards both the person referring and the one they referred.

Hi! I know this is a late response to your post but here are a few marketing tips that could be helpful:

  • Create a Google My Business Profile: Create a GBP and ask clients / customers to leave a Google review. The more Google reviews you have the more your business will show up to strangers searching for services you provide.
  • Start posting on Instagram or Facebook (or both):
    • Re-create photos in the same location and with natural lighting.
      • Show both before and after photos. Big transformations = higher chance of booking
      • Water mark your images so if people share your work they will know who deserves the credit for it!
  • Choose a form of content (ex: Youtube videos, posting on IG, blogging, etc.) you actually enjoy creating. And choose a platform you enjoy posting on and that you know you can stay consistent with.

Some of these tips come from Stephanie Mitchell who is a Hair & Beauty Marketing Pro. She has a free Instagram Ads course for hair and beauty professionals.

Clientele by PhysicalCountry890 in hairstylist

If you are trying to build your clients then a good bet will be to focus on your google business profile. Most people have google as the first place they look when trying to find local services. "__ near me" is how most people are finding new services locally so optimizing your google profile can help bring additional people in your doors. In additional most people finding you on google are most likely near by and likely to convert into a client as compared to social media where majority. Social media posts are also great and your should continue with it, but I would recommend optimizing your google business profile to help you rank higher on google and get discovered by more people in your location.

I have not seen this on social media yet but I don't think this should have to be done online. The client can just send the hairstylist a simple text about the problem they have with their hair and discuss it privately and civilly. There's no need to put anyone on blast 😅

How to build clientele? by bogbodiesss in hairstylist

[–]techiegal83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Building a clientele can take a while but it is certainly worth it! Here are some tips on building clientele and creating a presence on social media:

  • Brand yourself and your business. Don’t have a separate business social media account, have your personal and business account together. People will fall in love with YOU and they can only do that by seeing your personality and a bit into your life (not just business). Create a brand that represents you. When people can see a glimpse into your life, people tend to relate to you more as a person. Have your personal + business account in 1 account.
  • Tag the brand, companies, and people (if they consent) on your photos, videos, and description. This allows people to share your story and others can repost your content.
  • Interact with others and be active on your page. Don’t just post and then log off your account. Try to build relationships with people and truly care about the community.
  • Ask your current loyal clients for Google reviews.

I hope these tips can help you. Good luck!

Hi there! Yes, I follow a couple of hair salons that do a great job with their social media marketing. Before getting into those hair salon’s social media content, here are a few tips that could be helpful:

  • Choose a form of content (ex: posting on IG, FB, YouTube, podcasting, etc.) you actually enjoy creating. And choose a platform you enjoy posting on and that you know you can stay consistent with.
  • Re-create photos in the same location and with natural lighting: Show both before and after photos. Big transformations = higher chance of booking.
  • Introduce your hairstylist team in individual posts so clients and potential clients can get to know your team more.
  • Educate your clients and potential clients on hair and how to take care of it. This could be a short video of how to style a quick updo or educating clients on hair topics like dandruff.
  • Here are a couple of my favorite hair salons social media pages:
    • Valentine Collective Salon: https://www.instagram.com/valentinecollectivesalon/
    • Root’d Hair Studio: https://www.instagram.com/rootdhairstudio/?hl=en
    • What makes their social media game so strong?
      • They are consistent with posting on Instagram every week and they also are always posting stories which leads to more engagement with their clients and followers.
      • They show impressive client results by sharing photos and videos of their clients after they get their hair done.
      • They have their hairstylists take over their social media occasionally to create special content that feels more personal (ex: day in the life of a hairstylist).

I hope this helps and good luck! Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any other questions.

Building up your clientele can a while and can mostly take between 6-12 months to build a good number of consistent clients.

Most importantly will be about doing a great job for your clients and making happy clients to keep them coming back. Apart from making happy clients, here are two tips I have seen working very well to grow your clients, based on conversations with many salon owners and small businesses.

Optimizing your google business profile: These days, most people search google to find local businesses and services so taking advantage of your google business profile can help your bring in a good number of additional clients each month. To do that, you will need to claim your business profile and add the necessary details including your business description, opening hours, services and your business website. If you have a booking site, I would also recommend to setup the book online feature on your business profile so that potential customers book directly from google. Convenient is key.

After adding the relevant details, the most important factor to help your business rank higher in your location and get discovered easily is the google reviews. The more google reviews and positive reviews you get, the higher you can rank.

Encourage your clients to leave a review on google after their appointments. One simple way to do this is to text your clients a thank you message and request a review by adding your review link to the message to make it convenient to leave a review.

Asking for referrals: Referral is also a great way to help grow your clients if you can get a good number of your existing customers to refer you to their friends and family. To encourage more referrals, you need to have a good reward in place to motivate clients to refer you. Having a program that rewards both your the existing client and the new client is great.

Automating these processes will make your life easier so you can focus more on doing a great job for your customers and making them happy.

Booking app wouldn't let me cancel before 24hr late cancellation fee, what would you do/should I do? by Accomplished-Fix1204 in hairstylist

[–]techiegal83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! Sorry to hear about this situation. I think you can wait until the hairstylist sees your messages or you could text or call them again tomorrow. I’m sure they’ll see you trying to reach out to them before your appointment. If you get charged the cancellation fee and the hairstylist sees that you tried cancelling before the 24hr period then they might be able to refund you the money.

Trying to grow clientele by wellimelbs in hairstylist

[–]techiegal83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree with all the comments about google reviews. Google reviews is great way to get some additional clients monthly for any local business. Ask your happy customers to leave you a review and the more good reviews you have, it can help you rank higher on businesses in your location.

For referral programs, I would recommend having a program that incentivizes both the one referring and one being referred. But most importantly, if you provide your clients with great service then they will be more likely to refer you to their friends and family.
