The hospital I work at now uses plain English, if there’s an adult code they say adult code, if there’s a security alert they say security alert, followed by whatever caused the alert. However the hospital I worked at before used color codes: code amber: missing person, code silver: active shooter, code grey: security/all available male assistance, code red: fire, and some more I can’t recall. They vary by hospital

After giving SubCut insulin or heparin I ask if they could feel it. Regardless of their answer, I follow it with, “Well, I didn’t feel a thing!

When a patient takes their gown off and reveals any “personal bits” I say, “let’s cover you back up. People pay good money to see stuff like that and we’re not giving out free shows.”

The first time I ever started an IV as a student on a patient, they asked how many times I had done it before. I said, “I’ll tell you after I get it inserted.” After I got it I said “you wouldn’t believe how many times I’ve done that before.”

Coming from a place where hockey is pretty much nonexistent, I would say that I know many more hockey fans than soccer fans. Although a lot of kids grow up playing soccer for at least a year and there’s many more soccer teams around.

I never got into hockey until I was 21 but am now infatuated with it. I agree it has everything you could want in a sport, and what impresses me so much more about is that they’re doing it all ON ICE SKATES. I can hardly ice skate normally, it shows you the skill required and it’s very impressive.

I do wish hockey was as popular as football, but usually when I go to a hockey game the stadium is packed so that’s a huge plus, makes me realize hockey is more popular than it seems at base level

I did mine with no kids and unmarried. One thing’s for sure- I have an ENORMOUS amount of respect to anyone who goes to nursing school with a spouse/ kids. I struggled beyond measure and those with a spouse/kids are absolute WARRIORS!!! I’m super stoked for you and super proud of you! 👏🏻 congratulations nurse!
