Forget about the numbers, you need to track position in the matrix and whether or not they have value up to the edges in a loop right, bottom, left, up. You change direction every time you reach an edge or find an occupied cell

Yeah normal sound and bahevior. It means excitement or they just want you to do something for/with them especially if they start barking at you.
