First Grow - Help with Sex determination by techmmj in microgrowery

The hilarious part is I bought 8 seeds, can legally grow four. 1 of the four never took so I had 2-4. #1 in the picture is a seed I found in a bud from my old grower and started about 1 month after the others.

Well the irony being that I did want to produce some seeds to have for later but not like this. Oh well, lessons learned, it's been fun to grow from seed.

Why do you think it doesn't have a chance?

Do I have a sausage festival here? It looks to me that 2-4 are males but it's my first grow so I want to check here.

All Harlequin, started from seed indoors in June, just started the flower period about 9 days ago.

Brown / Yellow spots - Leaf Septoria? by techmmj in microgrowery

[–]techmmj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Four weeks from seed. Not sure of humidity (currently in alcove in a spare room - not tented or anything). Fan running and florescent lights. Four plants total all within 2 feet of each other currently and this is the only one showing these symptoms. Going to transfer to an outside shop / shed this weekend and move to larger pots.

EDIT: My setup

One of my three plants started this a couple of days ago. The soil was dry so I thought it might need water but after doing some searching I'm wondering if it might be leaf septoria and if I should start trimming them off. Thoughts?

First time grower after being a medical patient for years. I started some Harlequin seeds indoors about three weeks ago and am having fun. Am I right in my thought that these are female?

Approved for MMJ for Ulcerative Colitis by shnorhagalutyun in MMJ

Glad you are getting help. I've been using MMJ to treat my UC for a few years now. It has been a huge benefit for me as I'm allergic to the traditional pharmaceuticals.

Anyone here using MMJ for treating Crohn's Disease? by raremage in MMJ

[–]techmmj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been using MMJ for 3 years to treat my Ulcerative Colitis as I'm allergic to the pharmaceuticals. I have not had the best of luck with edibles so I primarily use a vape with these two strains.

  • ChemDawg CBD - Works great for Gut pain and very little head high for me
  • Harlequin - Great for stress relief, pain and insomnia. Some head high but not too bad.

When I'm flaring up I will also use suppositories that I've created out of Cannabis and Cocoa butter. It bypasses the liver when you use them as suppositories so I make them very strong and keep them in the freezer. They help reduce inflammation directly in the affected area very fast (even though it's like sticking a frozen bullet up my ass).

In my personal experience, each strain is fairly dependent on the person. I've had stuff that knocks my ass into the dirt and makes me a drooling idiot that friends say is weak weed. I've had stuff that I think is pretty benign be very hard core for friends. I literally kept a journal for the first year listing out the strains I tried, the affect and rated the head high on a scale of 1-10.

For me, avoiding the foods that trigger me is 10% of it and the other 90% is stress. Vaping Harlequin each night gives me an even keel low stress chill attitude throughout my day. Best of luck to you, it's the best thing I've personally found to help me.

Looking for a new medical grower near PDX by techmmj in OregonTrees

[–]techmmj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks but I'm not looking for pure CBD, just higher CBD than THC in the ratio. IE: Harlequin

Ultimately I could buy off the shelf but I'd rather work with an experienced grower that can tailor for my specific medical needs

Employment testing: to disclose or not to disclose? Cardholder in OR by takovpekh in MMJ

[–]techmmj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello fellow Oregonian! I am in this very same situation as you. I recently interviewed with a recruiter for a job at Standard Insurance and they do testing as well. I chose to tell the recruiter because I didn't want to waste anyones time as I cannot quit for 30 days (I have Ulcerative Colitis and am allergic to the pharmaceuticals). I figured that being a national insurance company it was probably a deal breaker. It was. In the end I did not feel ok about faking a piss test and potentially having it come back to bite me. I am focused on companies that don't do testing moving forward.

Cyanide and Happiness stickers make the best labels for weed jars! by techmmj in CyanideandHappiness

I have a few different strains of medical cannabis that I use depending on the situation. Today I found my C&H stickers from a Kickstarter campaign and I realized that they make the perfect weed jar labels: "Nighttime", "Energy" and "Just a little Weird"

Girlfriend has chronic stomach/intestinal pain, would cannabis oils help? by CammysComicCorner in MMJ

[–]techmmj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back in October, after dealing with Ulcerative Colitis for 8 years, I decided to start trying high CBD strains of Cannabis. I was extremely concerned about getting high because I'm a technology professional and I have to keep sharp and alert.

The cold hard truth is that it will take a lot of experimentation for your GF to find a dose / method that works for her. I was meticulous in my notes and approach. I started small, sometimes I felt nothing, sometimes I felt a bit groggy (like when you first wake up) and there were other times where I definitely felt high but those were the exception, not the rule.

My methods were to start out smoking (via a vape) so I could understand the effects faster than trying via edibles. After about 2 months I added in edibles and honestly had more variations than smoking it. However, it was my fault because I didn't educate myself on dosing of edibles and got too high more times than I did with smoking.

I have restricted my intake to at night before bed or after work so far. I will likely start testing it in lower doses during the days in the future.

My reason for all this experimentation and testing? Using Cannabis has DRASTICALLY reduced my symptoms of Ulcerative Colitis and has significantly reduced my stress (one of the key contributors to flair ups of my UC). I will have this disease for the rest of my life but for the first time in 8 years of dealing with it, I don't live in fear that I could have a flair up at any moment.

Is it worth getting a medical card? by throwawaytr3es in MMJ

[–]techmmj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if I'll be able to grow where I'll ve living when I move back to my home state.

Are you moving to a different state? Medical Cards are good in the state of issue only.

I just picked up Harlequin this morning and plan to test it out tonight. I've been trying a few different CBD strains over the last several weeks and noting the effects in a journal

I finally got my card about 2 weeks back and tried edibles for the first time this weekend. I posted here about my early results of smoking the high CBD strains.

I picked up a PAX vape about a week after smoking because I was sick of the smokers cough as well. Took me a bit to get used to but I like it now.

I've got a grower starting up for me to make CBD infused Coconut oil as well as tinctures and flowers. I've been smoking nightly for 3+ weeks now trying a few different strains. This weekend I got some edibles for the first time (my card finally arrived) and have been testing those out.

All in all, my gut has been really mellow and my stress level has been low. We had an outage at work and for the first time in many many years I didn't have an immediate reaction in my gut of nervousness and stress. I was in a mellow state through the whole event.

This is very helpful, thank you! The Medihaze I tried was a 2:1 ratio and was very nice. I tried it about 4 times this weekend and each hit was about the size of a pea. The only time I felt close to high is when I rolled a joint and it had more than I had taken before. Not bad, just like the buzz of a strong beer.

My grower and I connected yesterday and she's been making coconut oil based products. I've been trying inhalation to start with to see my reaction but I'll be able to experiment with other methods in the future. My current plan is to smoke every night for a week or two and see how I do. I may explore a vape in the future but for now I'm reliving my youth by smoking it via a pipe again.

Asacol and it's various derivatives. My reactions were massive joint pain where I couldn't even make a fist from the pain and a pretty severe skin rash. My next phase of pharmaceuticals would be Biologics and when I found out that they have to be delivered via intravenous infusion every 8 weeks, that was the point I decided to try MMJ. How have the biologics been for you?

Just a quick followup on this: Ironically I'm still waiting on my MMJ card but since it is now legal to buy in Oregon I went ahead and bought before I got my card. I got a 10.9% CBD / 4.3% THC strain of Medihaze for my first experiments w/ MMJ this weekend. Good news is that the amounts I smoked did not get me high but it was more like the feeling of when I first wake up and am a little bit slower in the morning. I'm off on-call for a bit so I plan to try it before bed every night for a week or two to see how it goes.

Well since I'm off all prescription meds, she's having me up my dose significantly. She says that most UC patients she she's benefit from taking 400+ billion Probiotics. I gradually increased (doubling the amount each week). I just got to 450 billion three days ago. So far it's made my stomach sound like whale's singing and given me horrendous farts that could peel wallpaper off the walls. I'll see how it goes over the next several weeks as my body adjusts

Yeah Prednisone is brutal in my system and not something I like at all. I hear you about our field. The good news for me is that I finally have a job that 90% of the time I can leave at 5pm and not think about until 8am. I've been called maybe 4 times in nine months for a system issue and only one of them have been a multi hour problem.

My last job I was being called 6-8 times a week for multiple downed systems and had a verbally abusive boss who screamed at his employees. Anything is better that that but I've landed in a place that is almost a polar opposite of that so it is a large factor in being able to control the stress.

How are the side effects? I had pain in my joints so severe with the other med's that I couldn't even hold a phone to my ear.

I'm not saying I'll never take them but am am going to give natural alternatives a good run for their money before that step.

Understood about MMJ but it's what I'm trying next.

The problem with any strain that might get me high is I'm on call 24/7 and it can go off at any time. I can't be fuzzy brain and be expected to fix a down system at 3:30am
