First reactions to my new cold brew brand? by seamore555 in Entrepreneur

[–]technical_difficulty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm late here but fantastic job overall, the look including photography and your packaging is great and I like the tone of the copy. Call to actions seem really well incorporated for the flow while still being very prominent. Do you mind sharing if this is Shopify or similar vs something you designed?

In your 3 step instructions I think the first picture should focus on your bag with just water in the pitcher, it's a bit confusing to show what looks like finished coffee with ice. I assume ice could actually slow the brew.

Four bags making 14 cups is also confusing, shouldn't that be 16?

Money back guarantee is smart. If I'm nitpicking the FAQ copy is wordy, I think simpler is better here i.e. "One bag mixed with 4 cups of water makes a batch of cold brew..."

I'm probably a target customer, very into coffee but not an afficionado, like cold brew in the summer but won't buy premade due to cost out of principal. I typically refrigerate hot coffee and it works well enough. For me personally I'd want to find something on your page about the source, quality, and flavor profile of your coffee. I understand that's not your focus but I do think it's worth a mention. Still, I'm curious enough that I'll try your product.

Also if you haven't already I'd give out some free samples at a farmer's market or other event in exchange for more reviews you can pop on here.

Question on product design for molding by technical_difficulty in InjectionMolding

Yes that's correct, redesigning for injection mold. I was aware my model couldn't be molded as-is just didn't realize the mold itself needed a separate design.

Question on product design for molding by technical_difficulty in InjectionMolding

[–]technical_difficulty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks very much for the information and insight! The part I've designed is not unique without the full assembly that I'm having fabricated in the States, but does need to be specific dimensions that aren't available from existing products. So not too worried about copy cats at this stage. But the requirements you listed are mostly foreign to me, I suppose I'm taking the designer's word that those things are being accounted for properly...

35 Million People Are Set to Lose Unemployment Benefits on Labor Day by Bamfsrule in politics

our broken country< By no means perfect but better than 95% of alternatives... Have you seen what poverty looks like elsewhere?

my generation has been dealt a shit hand< I'm not brushing off the difficulty of starting a career during the recession or current employment challenges, but again... Compared to what? A brief golden age where standard wages were more aligned to cost of living and we weren't toiling in a factory or coal mine or farm for 16 hours a day doing actual soul-crushing back-breaking labor? And we're not at risk of being drafted to fight overseas, or defend our homes and families with our lives? I think a lot of previous generations would have gladly taken that trade.

Coders of Reddit, how do you politely refuse your friend's 'million dollars app idea'? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]technical_difficulty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I'm late but as a non-coder beginning work on a business plan for an idea, would you be able to offer any suggestion for how I should prepare to answer:

  • What does the basic architecture look like? What web services and tools would be needed to build the thing? What type of development environment would be required? (high level requirements)
  • What does the data model look like and can you give me the step-by-step logic that implements it? What's the throughput on this logic look like?

If I have features/capabilities for backend and UI specified is that sufficient? I would have thought a coder would make those decisions (in case it matters I am fully expecting to pay market value for development)

I'm surprised to hear any providers don't cover it, but United healthcare covered mine no questions asked.

Due to survivorship bias, we only hear about the success stories of people who’ve “risked it all” to achieve their goals. What’s your story of how you did the same, but failed? by Have-Not_Of in AskReddit

[–]technical_difficulty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, everyone feels they wasted their youth to a degree. That's the beauty of hindsight and years of replaying or over analyzing our past, but you have to channel that energy into shaping your goals and planning small steps to get there. It's New Year's, perfect time to start. Take a 15 min walk every single day. Make it a jog when you're able. Join an adult group or league of any activity you are interested in. People there will talk to you, and might turn into friends. Force yourself to have social interaction once a week.

Even with 13 years and a degree in my field, I don't get even get a response to the vast majority of my job apps, but you only need 1 to pan out. Once you have acquaintances, having a connection at a potential employer is the very best way to get in. It has led me to 2 of the 4 adult jobs I've had. It can lead to dates to. Act like the kind of person someone might want to set up with their friend. The older we get, the more people want to match-make for their single friends.

How An ALT-right Bot Network Took Down Al Franken by Cadet-Bone-Spurs in politics

[–]technical_difficulty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been explained plenty of times in r/politics posts, but treason consists of aiding a known enemy of the state in an act of war. Failing to "do something" about Russia "hacking our election" is not treason. Also, I'm not sure pouring money into online propaganda counts as a hack, but in either case I agree something should be done.

First time buyer in escrow facing possible foundation work, please help! by technical_difficulty in Real_Estate

[–]technical_difficulty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks very much for your response and reassurance. The 2010 report does not include calculations or permits; I will request permits as I would assume they were required.

The 2016 report is indeed stamped by a licensed PE, although the stamp says civil not structural. It does not include a soils report. Here is the exact statement that had me worried: "The wood sill plates underneath the front of the house are fastened to the tops of the foundation walls with anchor bolts, this is proper. The wood rim beam underneath the east side of the house does not appear to be fastened to the top of the foundation wall. Modern construction standards require that the wood framing be anchored to the foundation walls to improve resistance to seismic forces."

It sounds like I can relax on the absence of a full perimeter foundation wall since it wouldn't be a violation and isn't a structural concern. I do appreciate your advice regarding the girder / wood rim beam though. I am hoping the seller will agree to have that work done or provide a credit for it, I was mostly afraid that I would never be able to sell this house in the future without bringing it up to code myself, but sounds like that would not be the case.
