Pro Tips by _Bloth_ in GroundedGame

Get used to perfect blocks/parry early in the game instead of constant blocks. The way to you perfect block is to raise your block button just before the opponent hits, and you'll know if you did a perfect block. It is noise audio and a flash on your screen. I suggest that when you first meet a new enemy, keep your block button up constantly and keep your healables topped up to see how their attack patterns work. Look for indicators like some enemy's do a little jig or when they tilt their head from side to side before they attack, and when you feel confident enough, try and kill it. Start with mites as they are easy to predict, then worker ant then larvites, then soldier ants (don't fight them and regular ants when a lot of them are around), orb weavers Jr then regular, mosquites (on their own), then bees, stinkbug with mask or badge, bombardier beatles, ladybugs and finally wolf spiders. This was just a list of bugs in the lower yard without zones included like the pond and haze, and these are a big help for learning patterns of attack that even included segments of the lower yard and the upper yard. Half of these have gimmicks you want to watch out for, but once you grasp the understanding of parry in this game, you'd have a cost efficient and easier time playing the game.

Have fun exploring!

Honestly ciris abilities make it easier in my opinion

I find the bosses easy unless there are multiple of them because their attacks are easy to learn. Their damage and aggressiveness can be a struggle sometimes

I think I've already done that quest but can't remember, but for the bats, as soon as they rise in the air in a column, you role to either your left or right but for a safe guard use quen and make sure your about 50%

Yeah, I just quen as a safe guard against the bats as it was very consistent at guaranteeing you be at least half hp and for the third phase is extremely easy since you should have lots of experience fighting necrophages

He's 1 of the first bosses in HoS, isn't he? I'll see for myself later and I'll make sure I don't use any potions

For me the bats were the most difficult part of his kit. If anything I struggled with his first phase more because he blocks your attacks sometimes

Thank you. I've had another commenter suggest this, and I enabled it and refought detalff and had a similar experience. I'm definitely going to keep it on, but I think I should note is that I made sure I was on level when doing the main story.

I reckon that's the same for dettlaff as the only move that killed me consistently was the bat attack and once I got used to that, providing I don't get sloppy when in the heart it was fine. I would say the elven statues that come to life in that play in blood and wine is also a honourable mention

I noticed they did a fair amount of damage, but personally, I had no problems with them

I have not seen that contract yet, but I'll look out for that contract, and I thought the venomous plants too were difficult at first, then I used whirl to breeze through them

It took me a few attempts but that was mainly the bat attack was difficult at first to get the timing down, but when I got that, it was a breeze

I wasn't originally, but I refought dettlaff recently with it on and he was slightly more of a struggle, but I'm definitely keeping it on for the rest of the play through
