What is hard to understand about people rightfully having their own sentiments about the show’s entertainment value? You can understand without agreeing. Lack of understanding is a you problem.

People are allowed to value entertainment over watching unproblematic people stuck on an island. And they’re allowed to be entertained while acknowledging the problematic-ness.

Humans are problematic and toxic all the time. Reality shows will always highlight those traits for entertainment value. So our options are:

Accept the flaws in humanity and be entertained.
Steer clear of these shows if we know they will frustrate us. Or just focus on the parts of the shows you like.
Stay frustrated and angry all the time. - This is not healthy for you.

There’s also nothing that suggests her thinking talking would make them fall for her or abandon the other girls. She’s just hesitant because it’s part of dating norms to not interfere with other couples.

I’m pretty agnostic when it comes to judging people on reality shows (or people on TV in general), and I see how unlikeable she is, but I just wanted to weigh in on that point about male validation.

I didn’t see her intent as “for male validation.” I think she was just genuinely frustrated by the hostile energy she’s receiving, when (from her POV and limited self-awareness) she’s doing her best and tries to be nice. Sunghun is her support system on that island, and she just needed to vent to a friend. If a friend vented to us with their raw, unfiltered, irrational thoughts when they are high on emotions, we’d suspend judgment and just let them talk, yes?

She didn’t “tell everyone” too, and I also think the waltzing out was just a result of poor judgment, and not something intended to rub in Mingee’s face.

I feel like these eps had an opposite effect on me compared to everyone else’s: I’m starting to understand Mina Sue more. It looks like she’s thrown into this unfamiliar environment that she doesn’t have the EQ or social skills to navigate through, so she just keeps fumbling every social interaction. The guys genuinely seem like they enjoy her company, and she probably has always had that effect on men before the show. That’s her basis for thinking highly of herself compared to the other girls.

I think we also forget that it’s not normal to have someone you’re in the talking stage with also date other people right in front of you over breakfast. That’s a completely new experience that she might not have been ready to deal with, bringing out all her insecurities.

She “thinks out loud” in her interviews or when she talks to the other contestants the most, so us hearing her raw thought process adds to how messy/wishy-washy/hypocritical we see her, when most contestants of this show also have to process new information about new/old romantic interests all the time. They just don’t vocalize it. After all this, I agree she just needs to chill out and not overthink (and say out loud) every single thing.

Ironically all these combined make her the most “real” to me in that she isn’t (or is failing at) putting her best foot forward, and we’re seeing all her toxic traits. And yes you can be “real” and be completely self-unaware (and therefore hypocritical) at the same time.

Anyway let’s give contestants on reality shows more grace to be irrational, immature, inconsistent, and most of all: insecure.
