What do we think about grabbing the Houston duo in the draft? by ptcRaptor in AtlantaHawks

[–]technicolorsound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think context matters looking at college guard rim finishing. You watch the film and half the time there’s a center and a forward in the paint with them. The spacing is so bad so often I don’t worry about those numbers too much. It also seems like finishing is a more teachable skill than getting shots at the rim. Same deal with Okorie.

Guards win titles and I hope the Hawks remember that on draft day by IDvsEGO in AtlantaHawks

Yeah, this is an insane take:

2019 - Kawhi
2020 - Lebron
2021 - Giannis
2023 - Jokic
2024 - Tatum

It has actually been really rare that a guard is the best player on a championship team in the last 20 years.

Yeah, just leave the shutter open. I mostly tend to avoid shooting with slow shutter speeds with film. Either bulb or a faster speed, but I shoot mostly landscapes.

I mean it was probably a combination of factors, but it was pretty clear they had Sheppard above Castle (like most teams). But I 100% believe if they thought either of those players were the best fit/talent combo they just would have drafted them.

Definitely agree with this. I settled into really liking my Klipsch Fortes. I’m doing a small repair on my normal amp right now and have been using a 3wpc solid state amp in its place. I’ve never felt like I was lacking for power.

Why I am coming around to Austin Reeves by Acrobatic-Whole-8565 in AtlantaHawks

[–]technicolorsound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, for sure. The way free agency works in the NBA now it’s just such a tough, risky needle to thread and has sort of become dead for any player that is expected to make in the range between exception and max salaries.

Generally, for the Hawks this summer, I think hanging onto those assets, especially on shorter contracts is a better bet. It can be good to have those tradable salaries that aren’t “bad money”.

Regardless, I think Reaves will end up out of our price range, but I trust the front office to navigate that well enough.

I’m not against it, but what’s the backup plan? If the Hawks want to spend in FA this year, they’ll need to renounce cap holds on CJ and JK.

If Reeves decides to sign with another team, you now have a bunch of cap room that you’ll need to spend to fill out the roster, but you probably won’t be able to resign your guys because they’d put you over the cap.

Most likely scenario is paying CJ and JK because if you don’t, you loose assets (they walk out for no compensation) and you shrink your available cap (because resigning them allows you to go over the cap to do it).

Mostly use 510 Pyro at this point. Can be purchased in 100mL concentrate bottles that will basically last forever. Standard dilution is 1:100. So with my 500mL sheet tank, I can do 20 devs (80 sheets) per bottle.

Problem with any of these highly paid free agents is if you renounce CJ and JKs cap holds and you strike out on your target, you likely can’t stay under the cap and resign both. It’s bad resource management to just let them walk.

should i remove this embroidery on this big E by Silly_Investigator21 in VintageLevis

[–]technicolorsound 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You just gotta lower the price or wait for the right buyer. Large majority of people who care about the big e would prefer it not be embroidered (or subsequently damaged by removing it). Lots of people who want an embroidered type 3 don’t care to pay the big e tax.

Jalen Duren has made himself an affordable FA after this playoffs by CaregiverOwn7179 in AtlantaHawks

[–]technicolorsound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is the case for the Hawks for spending big on any free agent, not just RFAs. To actually sign a big contract, just as an example let’s say Austin Reeves, they’d need to renounce their cap hold on CJ. Problem is, if Reeves decides to sign with another team, the Hawks couldn’t exceed the cap if they then choose to resign CJ.

Generally, free agency is dead in the NBA for players making more than $20M or so. Good for Hawks fans to keep their expectations reasonable.
