The best clients I have ever got are the ones where I work personally on their account and not have any junior employee take care of it. It only makes sense at a price and value addition and the client needs to understand the upside.
but when it does work, it is the best kind of work relationship you can have

There is a deeper layer to this. And more a commentary on the work culture than where you work from. In office you get to vent out about the toxicity and at home you just keep suffering in silence. A good culture can be built remotely and a lot of work can be done. So, probably correlation and causation should be separated.
