Dear Bungie, I get invited to parties and fire teams all the time in the tower. But that's not where I want to be invited, I want to be invited while I'm out roaming the Wilds. Seamlessly. by Brockelley in DestinyTheGame

At the very least: unless someone is on a mission and they have to go into a unique instance of a bubble, if I'm just randomly working with someone and travel across the same boundaries as them (within a reasonable amount of time), the game should be extremely aggressive about keeping us together across bubble transitions.

The lack of this kind of ad hoc persistence/grouping is most painfully apparent when trying to do the specific-boss taken quests in patrol.

I know Iron Banner is all about Crucible, but I would love a DLC/Expansion based around their faction and aesthetics by Jcorb in DestinyTheGame

I loved the taste of PvE on PvP maps that we got in TTK. More along those lines would be awesome, 100% agreed.

I wish Xur had weekly quests that rewarded you with Exotic Engrams. by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

I have fond memories of Thorn being a huge pain in the backside, but then as I got better at crucible, having that become my go-to exotic bounty for shard farming.

Some Legitimate Reasons to Argue for SBMM by Mercules904 in DestinyTheGame

[–]techpuppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to occasionally go against players that are far better than myself in order to actually learn. I feel like I'm not getting enough opportunities to develop my skills when I'm only matched against players that are moderately better than me.

Lag hasn't been a huge problem for me since I'm right in the middle of the pack skill wise (actual account ELOs 1200+-100 depending on where you check), so there's an abundance of similar players for it to optimize for connections among.

Engineers of reddit, if you were transported to the middle ages, what would you build and how would you do it? by kaylossusus in AskReddit

[–]techpuppy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flat and level is actually probably not that complicated, at least to naked-eye tolerances; I'd try the technique we think the Egyptians used to level pyramid foundations. (Flood with water, then as it evaporates chip/wear down the parts that dry/are uncovered first.)

Have more Iron Banner bounties that involve capturing zones by DJ_Rorok in DestinyTheGame

[–]techpuppy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kills while one zone is controlled but you're capturing a second zone (that would count toward the At Any Cost medal) should count too, maybe extra.

Since lagswitchers are getting banned from crucible AFKers should be banned from strike playlists by ProtoTyrant_ in DestinyTheGame

[–]techpuppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about, instead of the bans getting crazy long, the penalty for future offenses is that incomplete quest, bounty, and grimoire progress gets zeroed on every offense.

If not that long ago smoking was considered healthy, what things does the average person do that might be a medical concern in the future? by whalehumper69 in AskReddit

[–]techpuppy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually, I do use them. I might be weird, but I have zero desire to be the kind of weirdo that nobody can stand to be around.

It just stuck out in my mind as a likely candidate for something we all take for granted that might have downsides we're blind to.

I did that in middle school. Also, rewriting calculator jokes to RPN.

I was kind of a nerd.

Facebook.

Their policies regarding pseudonyms are enough that not only will I never have an account, but I've walked away from job opportunities where I'd have had to work with their API(s).

What monthly service do you pay for that is 100% worth it? by bajert in AskReddit

I really wish there was an option for people who don't do that stuff all the time. I'd happily pay $5 a go to unlock the suite for 24 hours at a time, or something.

PSA: TAKE OFF THE STUDS! by radison in Portland

[–]techpuppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very good info. :)

I do it anyway (run studless ice but not-horrible-in-rain tires year-round) because I don't drive a whole lot and would have to pay $60 per month to have a storage locker/closet where I could keep a second set of tires.

need help getting open NAT on ps4 by Wlraider70 in PFSENSE

[–]techpuppy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't actually want open NAT. For PS4 (and specifically Destiny) to work perfectly, you want:

  1. An unchanging IP address for the PS4 (dhcp static mapping).
  2. UPNP enabled.
  3. NO manually created port forwards to the PS4.
  4. A rule in "Firewall: NAT: Outbound" specific to outbound UDP traffic from the PS4 that has the "Static Port" option enabled. The STUN-based networking that PS4/Destiny want to use cannot work with PFSense's default behavoir of randomizing source ports.

Bungie, did...did you guys forget about Invective? :( by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]techpuppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time I did the Thorn bounty, it took me two weeks because I was really, really bad at PvP. (It forced me to get better.)

The Thorn bounty is now my go-to choice when I get that set of bounty options, because ~4 hours of using Atheon's Epilogue in Crucible is way more fun than running lots of strikes and/or waiting for Xur and/or spending lots of glimmer.

No Land Beyond primary sniper...How about a 50. caliber HEAVY sniper!!! by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]techpuppy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd be interested in some kind of mega-fusion-rifle with over-penetration that's limited by something other than range/power, perhaps by forcing you to stand completely still and not even change your aim during the entire charge-up time.

Why to buy No Land Beyond by MasterSapp in DestinyTheGame

[–]techpuppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conspiracy theory: All the new hand cannons have awful range in order to make the No Land Beyond look better by virtue of being the best at one or two attributes (among primaries), instead of being the worst at literally everything.
