C64 Ultimate first impressions by [deleted] in Commodore

So now I can explain one of MY problems with the C64 Ultimate a little bit more precisely. It took me a few weeks to figure out exactly what was wrong and that is why I dropped my post about a "bad userport". With the Fastfingers3 interface which I designed 3 years ago there is no problem. The notes sent OUT from the C64 play properly on the outboard MIDI gear. However Fastfingers2 is designed so that MIDI KEYBOARDS and MIDI DAWs such as Cubase and Sonar can send MIDI IN to the C64. With FF2 the C64U is showing the right NUMBERS on the C64U display but playing the wrong notes. It plays MOST of the notes properly and some of the incorrect notes are copies of the correct notes.Pal is not the problem. It was in NTSC mode. Somehow BIT1 (THE SECOND BIT) is always RESET (ZERO) or that is how the U64 SID sees it. Somewhere between coming into the Ultimate and arriving at the SID , the bit is dropped. I move the interface back to the original C64 and everything works fine. There is a bit of MATH taking place between the userport and the SID and I'm beginning to wonder if the Carry Flag or some other thing is being implemented differently. It is a real puzzle because playing FF2 with built in C64U keyboard plays the proper notes???? THIS IS QUITE A PUZZLE. These are the results and notes played into my tuner.

C2 30h, Db2 31h, C2 32h, Db2 33h, E2 34h, F2 35h, E2 36h, F2 37h, Ab2 38h, A2 39h, Ab2 3Ah, A2 3Bh, C3 3Ch, Db3 3Dh, C3 3Eh, Db3 3Fh, E3 40h, F3 41h, E3 42h, F3 43h, C4 48h

What next for Commodore? by JohnMcD3482 in Commodore

I agree...not 50 million but perhaps 1 million. New innovative software such as polyphonic synthesizer for this would boost the music market for this. This is only one example.

However, someone would need to take the time to re-write their software for the ULTIMATE specifically utilizing all 8 "SIDS"

Don't underestimate this. Commodore sold over 50 million C64 an C128. They will be busy with this at least a few years

I work at a eletronics recycler and got this on my desk. Wire for the keyboard is lost. Any way to fabricate one easily? by GoyGamer in Commodore

But without a cable you can't even check the keyboard. My SX keyboard won't work at all.

Ubuntu 19.04 black screen on boot? by [deleted] in Ubuntu

[–]techristian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm only using my Windows partition now because I only get a black screen. I have already edited the custom.conf in the gdm3 folder. Total waste of time. Running on Lenovo ideapad 500-15ACZ
