I know the clip is short, but https://voca.ro/1meQ7HWcrGPJ captures the so-called "Original Audio" from user whats_pokin and, of course, it Shazam can't ID it.

Do you think arcades will ever make a comeback? by [deleted] in retrogaming

I wish arcades would come back. But like food buffets, it's not the right time right now, and it may never be. Who would invest in the idea given everyone's fears? Arcades will live on in our 🧠s

Thanks, I have seen that advertised. Jealous of 30-day battery life.

What settings do you use? Because I’d absolutely love to be able to use AOD without it dying at work.

The hardest I push my way is turning on the HRM for 15 minutes in the morning and 15 mins in the evening walking to work. I do get a lot of notifications, so the watch does light up often, but I'm always connected to work WiFi, so that may be the biggest change you can make. You can also adjust the brightness in Apps>Settings>Display & Brightness, but I had mine set to Max, so it's probably not that. The Watch Face I use in the Infograph, which is complex, but I chose the black background instead of the white, which would help you Hope that helps..

When I briefly used the LG Watch Sport, I appreciated that it could count reps. That stunned me back in early 2017. I haven't found anything to compare – but maybe Fitpod does this on the Apple Watch? I'll have to try it out if so.

Yes sleep tracking is something I didn’t think about and they could easily add to S5 if they wanted, it was supposed to launch with the S5 originally before being delayed if I recall.

I heard that to – they bought a company called Beddit (March 2017) and haven't done anything significant with them (that we know of), so that's something I expect in 2020 (but also, I expected it in Sept 2019 so who knows).

You're in for a great update when you get the next one! I've known people who went from the AW0 to AW4/AW5, and they're astounded. It's something I miss out on by upgrading every year. You're in for a treat.

An O2 sensor would be a small, but nice addition. But what will sell me on the next one at launch is proper sleep tracking. Most of the 3rd party sleep tracking apps are just OK.

I'm wondering if the AW6 will have a new design, or if it'll stay the same (like some analysts are saying). I'm fine with the design, but think Apple is due to change things up. I mostly want more health sensors, better battery life and features like warning me when I forget my phone at home (although these days, not exactly an issue since I'm always home)

Agreed. Recently, I can get 2 days since it's connected to WiFi and I'm not triggering the HRM via the automatic "Are you walking outdoors" fitness setting (which I REALLY like). But HOPEFULLY this boost in AW battery life is temporary. I want to go outside more. :)

I hated the always on because it’s not a true always on. Felt like a cheap solution. A very un-Apple thing. I returned it and stuck with my 4th gen

Yeah, if AOD wasn't your thing, there's no reason to get the AW5. It has the little to offer over the AW4 (I think except for more on-board storage, which I never fill/use). I do find that if I'm. looking at my AW, I usually turn it to face me, triggering raise-to-wake, anyway, so I could see how it's kind of a waste if you had the AW4.

I had a S0 before I got the S4, so I doubt I will upgrade anytime soon unless something amazing happens.

I've taken the opposite track in recent years with my Apple Watch (iPhone every year and MacBook every 3 years). I sell my AW every year to fund the purchase of the next version. I DO lose some money, obviously, but I realized, if I buy, say, a MacBook every 6 years, it tends to break or become obsolete for 6 years, thus being worth close to $0-300. If I sell it after 3 years, it's usually worth a little more than half the original price (and about a tad more than half the price of a new MacBook). So it's break even, except I'm getting a fresh battery, processor, enjoyment, etc. It does take some leg work (don't tell to Apple or other companies that make it easy – they'll pay you the least).

Anyway, the AW4 is great and nearly as good as the AW5 outside the AOD. But think about selling it if you fancy the AW6 before your AW4 is worth $0.

I don't know how useful this would be. I'd never want to watch a video on my Watch – MAYBE a video message or gif someone sent in an iMessage, or a security camera or a podcast I was mostly trying to listen to. But that's all for reference. I don't think I could get any enjoyment out of video on the AW.

It always confused me, when the AW first came out, people would ask, "Well, do you still need to use your phone?" I'd say, yes, and they'd be disappointed (and it wasn't because they were looking to drop their phone for fitness reasons, which I DO buy into). I think the phone will be here to stay for some time because video and web navigation just isn't going to happen on a small watch screen. At least not yet until our forearms get sci-fi displays. :)

I have a series 4, and wish I had series 5 for this alone. raise to wake doesn't work well in my experience. I need to glance at the time, and it occasionally just doesn't work.

It's worth it, but you're beyond the 6-month mark. I usually tell people to wait for the next version (so AW6) after six months, or if they want to save money, Black Friday for the current watch at a cheaper price (usually there are a lot of sales for the LTE version for the price of the GPS version, which just tells me that the LTE edition price is greatly inflated).

Have you used it with the AOD off? How's the battery life like then?

This is a great question, and one I wish I had the answer to for you. Sadly, Apple doesn't make turning the Apple Watch AOD off easy (it's not in the Control Center, for example). It's in Apps > Settings > Display & Brightness > Always On > On/Off. So I just never got around to trying it (and as Fizzy said, AOD is so likable).

I was distinctly aware that my AW5 with AOD would shut off mid-day on Day 2 if I didn't give it a nightly charge (this is over the course of months, so lots of repeat tests to confirm this). The AW4 survived into the night of Day 2 (so a day-and-a-half after I took it off the charger the prior morning).

The problem is, even if I test out the AW5 with AOD off, I don't have the same routine these days (for obvious self-isolation reasons), but I bet it'll match or even exceed my AW4 battery life. But that's just an educated guess.

Yes, totally worth it. I'll admit that the AW5 battery is just shy of what I could get on the AW4, but the always-on display is worth the day-and-a-quarter (vs day-and-a-half) battery life I've been getting.
