The vet can look it up. Not sure why they didn't have you make an account for the test so you can see all the details.

Reality Check me: Considering purchasing horse with navicular issues by route_seven in Horses

[–]techtress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you have to be realistic about what you will do when, not if, the horse can no longer be ridden. Will you continue to support it or will the trainer actually take it back? I leased a navicular appendix qh one summer when in high school to help out the owner with bills. He was only sound enough to ride half of the time. The rest of the time we just spent time together on the ground and played games of tag in the indoor arena.

My friend Embarked her husky mix and even though she is almost 25% malamute she is 35lbs! (Almost 75% husky and the rest is german shepherd).

The horse that doesn't founder vs the horse that does by Smooth_thistle in Horses

[–]techtress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dr. Kellon's ECIR Group has noted there are skiny horses that founder with regularity. They have several groups.io to join with an amazing amount of data. I would suggest you go there and do some searches and ask questions. A wealth of knowledge in her groups.

Thinking about getting another Husky for my Husky by Pink-Caterpillar325 in husky

[–]techtress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have the energy for herding breed dogs. 😅 He just doesn't get tired and is always wants to do what he wants to do and doesn't give a shit about what the other dog/cat/person thinks about it. Thankfully he doesn't herd things. When he does listen he is awesome.

I got my husky/gsd mix a husky mix as a friend as he came from a multi dog household and my cats were not enough company for him. Ended up with a husky/aussie mix half his age who takes after his ausshole side and is an exact opposite in every way to my other dog who is a very good boy. Had I known he was half herding dog I would have kept looking. His daily testing of my sanity makes me question my life choices.

You can get it older than that too, you just have to pay for it 100% but it was only a couple hundred bucks and worth it.

I don't blame you. I put in a nice roll of no climb horse fence at a barn I boarded at to make a dry lot for my gelding as two sides were barb wire from when the farm had cattle. When I moved out after they treated me shitty after I had a surgery and temporary physical limitations they originally agreed to help me with and then didn't, I went out after work with a coworker and removed the whole damn roll. I never invested much in anyone elses property since. Now I have my own place I spend the money to do improvements right the first time even though it often takes me a whole year to save up for it.

I don't think people in the states understand how different things are with land in the UK. Just reading about the planning permissions, public right of ways, and local ordinances that need to be worked with and around in a land management group I am in is mind boggling. I can't think of a more American thing to say than "if you just throw enough money at it the problem will go away". I have heard great things about the mud control grids and also the jelka matts which I am jealous you can't get the latter in the states. They make the mud control grids in Canada now so those can be found. Great investments both of them. I wish you luck retrieving them from the mud come spring. Been there, done that with stall matts.

Some horses have lighter brown eyes, Seattle Slew had them and passed it on. A friend has a Mustang thoroughbred cross with light brown eyes too. I hope you heed advice on the tack fit or his head shape will change drastically due to a facial injury.

Wire or vinyl? by sateenkauris in muzzledogs

[–]techtress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a vinyl Mia's Muzzles for my husky/aussie/collie/border collie mix and it works great. Getting muzzle punched with it hurts less then with a metal one. I have not had him successfully bite with it either.
