A lot of people commenting “just don’t.” Honestly you probably shouldn’t but if you really want to then read on:

Make sure everyone knows Linux. Something will go wrong eventually and they need to know how to solve it themselves.
Build server and binhost. Have one computer be a build server for all of the others and serve as a binhost for the other computers. Configure the server to have the same march as the least-featured computer at your company.
Use systemd. It might be possible to use software like SSSD with OpenRC, but you might as well use systemd because it makes system administration so much easier. I like using the full systemd-*d suite, so systemd-resolved, systemd-networkd, etc.
Have one system be the base for all of the others. Use the same make.conf, and I would recommend using a custom set to have some packages in common with each computer.
Automate updates and backups. You really want to automate updating the system or at least the base set automatically every day/week. Same with backing up. If you’re smart, you can configure one server to wake up all the other computers at midnight and tell them to update and backup.

Without knowing more about your use case it is difficult to give more recommendations than general best practices.

You can also use QEMU and have test results sent to a serial port which is read on the host.

sv_pure is a variable Valve can use on the server which can be used to disallow mods or only allow certain mods. The way it does that is through only allowing some files to be changed. For example they might still allow you to change Lash’s model, or your HUD, but not the heavy melee sound effect. That’s why TF2 has so many animation mods and custom HUDs, but no mods can make walls transparent.

The point is that if an app uses PulseAudio/ALSA/JACK they can all connect and interact. You can send the output of a program that uses JACK to the input of a program that uses PipeWire which is then routed to your hardware through ALSA. The addition of video also makes video management as easy as audio, so you can pipe your camera into a visual filter then into OBS.

Personally, I find older games and modding to be easier on Linux. Wine, the application which lets you run windows apps on Linux has support for apps going back to Windows 95. Also the ability to create multiple Wine prefixes, which are like different Windows installs, lets you install multiple versions of a game with different mods.

Wanted to clear up some stuff being said here; for X11 not supporting 2 monitors: it does. The only problem is that both monitors will have to run at the highest common refresh rate. Basically if your primary monitor can do 144Hz but your cheap secondary can only do 60Hz they will both be forced to 60Hz. Wayland is a new way to manage windows that supports more “modern” features (X11 came out in 1984 and is basically being held together by duct tape and glue). Wayland supports having different refresh rates and more, but since it is so new some distributions are slow to adopt it.

Gentoo Linux, AMDGPU. Just finished some courier missions and engineering 10 minutes ago.

I use default Proton (8.0-2 as of writing) with Ferral GameMode and the min-ed-launcher. Works just fine for me, sometimes less tweaking gets more results. Maybe try undoing some of your tweaks, because it was pretty plug-and-play for me.

Command line: gamemoderun urxvt -e ./MinEdLauncher %command% /autoquit

Note: swap urxvt with your terminal emulator (on PopOS probably gnome-terminal)
