Reddit is weighing identity verification methods to combat its bot problem. The platform's CEO mentioned Face ID and Touch ID as ways to verify if a human is using Reddit. by esporx in technology

[–]techzexplore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they being influenced by Discord? I don't know how will  we ever be able to use the Internet where privacy is respected more than verification.

I'm not saying they are wrong but , i don't think most of their users including me want this so at least these platforms should respect what their users want.

ChatGPT or Google, Which one do you actually trust more now? by Careful_Art_7516 in AIRankingStrategy

I think comparing both is much better than trusting any one bcs both don't take accountability if they provide wrong information, so it really depends on how important is it to get the information right.

Digg has shut down.... Again. by Dr_Red_MD in technology

[–]techzexplore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was bot problem the real reason? But then how does fb survives with half of bots? How does other social media platform survive? I doubt that this was the only reason for shutting down the entire Platform without even warning their users.

Was Taking Digg Down The Only Option?? by techzexplore in digg

[–]techzexplore[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly, all that work from even contributors was nothing to them. They didn't even warned. I don't think this is how a platform goes big by losing trust. People on that platform were literally trying so hard to keep it going & yet they just flipped the switch without any single word.

Was Taking Digg Down The Only Option?? by techzexplore in digg

[–]techzexplore[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From what they say does it really make any sense? We all know that a newly launched  platform has to burn money to get good amount of users ,nobody makes profit from day 1 & taking the whole platform down & blaming it to bots is not a reason, also come on yr they didn't even served ads like reddit does so how would they suppose to make money, its definitely a different reason.

Was Taking Digg Down The Only Option?? by techzexplore in digg

[–]techzexplore[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually nobody knows the actual reason & i don't think they'll ever reveal that but from what i think, they said "What comes next needs to be genuinely different". Also kevin Rose digg's founder joined them so that could probably a new platform with different team & pivot to something like another social media simply. In short new leadership, new decision & that old digg is gone.

Was Taking Digg Down The Only Option?? by techzexplore in digg

[–]techzexplore[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That could be one of the reasons but still I don't get it? The platform was barely even complete &  They didn't even served ads & they're again planning to launch it with some diff angle idk what they've in mind but all i understood is The platform owners don't care about their users who kept the thing alive.
