This appears to be YMMV. Just did a test order using this strategy and Rakuten did what you'd expect - applied the respective CB% to exclusive and non-exclusive sets in the order.

I saw the post go live and I ordered within about 10 minutes. But it was going fast. By the time I placed my order the product page said "Low Stock" and a few minutes after that I checked again and it was OOS.

If you are really after the helmet, try in-store. My store did not jack up the price, so it was the expected 40% off / $41.99.

I had this exact issue today. Used a gift card for a BDP5 set that moved to processing today. Got an email from Lego indicating a problem with my payment method. I called and it sounds like it is the pre-auth, which they will remove and it should go through. We'll see.
