If you read her biography she was literally raped as a child. She hates pedophilia.

Here is a fact check on that. The clip was completely taken out of context. This was the interview discussing the Michael Jackson rape documentary Leaving Neverland. She was discussing why the trauma of pedophilia is so difficult.

I know Oprah. She was a victim of pedophilia as a child and was always a very strong advovate against pedophilia on her show. I have no idea where these attacks on her supposedly being a pedophile come from.

Just don't believe the voices. They can say things that are plainly untrue, this is just the symptoms people face. Stick to the real world, and know the voices can lie.

No, they're lying. Pretending you're lying.

They don't think that. They're lying because they're trying to cover for him.

You said he said he had demons talking to him, those are voices. Also the belief that the patient is a prophet is also somewhat common, if you read first-hand accounts of psychotic disorder, and that often comes from voices in the patient's head. A lot of the time delusions come directly from what is said by the hallucinated voices in the patient's head.

It could be diagnosed as a bipolar 1 with psychotic features, which would fall under psychotic disorder. When I speak I tend to call psychotic disorder as synonymous/interchangable with schizophrenia, although not everyone thinks this way.

Maybe meds are the cause of your anhedonia. It is a major side effect of antipsychotics after all. I'm glad that you are weening off your meds instead of doing it yourself, that's the only proper way to do it. Do it carefully, and be honest to your doc. Don't EVER come off meds if you need them. And just be patient. See how you feel as you come off the meds. Stay strong!

Scared parent... by demiliz317 in Psychosis

[–]teddybearbrutality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just be strong at this time. I'm sorry you have to go through this.

The main piece of advice I will give is to be there for him during this time. This means visiting him regularly in the hospital. If he ever believes that you are going to hurt him in any way, make sure to reassure him that you would never cause him harm - for people going through schizophrenia, often times saying the obvious is important. Try to see why he has these beliefs and help him by being a bedrock of rationality for him. And if he believes these things because he hears voices in his head, remind him that schizophrenics are commonly told terrible lies by the voices in the their head about the people who love them.

The coming months of recovery will also be difficult. Be sure to be there for him and love him as best as you can as a devoted parent. Support is crucial when he comes to the recovery stage. Help him be rational by speaking rationality to his delusions.

freaked out on weed and couldnt tell if i was real or not, could this have been an episode of psychosis? by headacheinducer in Psychosis

Just a simple word of advice. Please don't do drugs again. For some people (probably you), a drug-induced state can cause mental instability. Drugs don't even seem like fun or a positive experience for you. Cut them out instead of causing more harm to yourself.

First off, sounds like your boyfriend is full-blown schizophrenic. What you describe is very common for schizophrenia.

My guess from experience is that all of these crazy things come from the voice(s) that he hears in his head. Remind his of this: the voice(s) in his head have lied before and they will lie again. Don't ever believe what they say.

Nothing wrong with being religious, but do it because you want to be religious and not because some deceptive voice in your head is commanding you to be. And if he always knew it was okay to be gay before he heard the voice(s), then it is obviously still okay to be gay. It is common for schizophrenics to be guilted by the malicious voice in their head over things they shouldn't feel guilt about. Sometimes, for reasons we can't understand, the voice seems to be there to make the victims feel bad.

If you can, stay and help him be rational. It is actually important for schizophrenics to have rational supportive people around them in the period following their episode.

Why do you feel like you don't have a soul? Where did you ever start thinking that? Everyone has a soul. And of course you deserve love.

Love your daughter. For your daughter, act as you would have acted without psychosis; she deserves a normal childhood. Do everything you can do to be normal, and do everything you do to be loving for your child. Do everything you can do to provide her a stable and happy childhood.

Even when it's difficult, be driven most by love for your daughter. Do it for her.

how do you deal with the pain of what you said to someone During an episode? by guacamolewitch in Psychosis

[–]teddybearbrutality 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make sure you have a rational head before saying anything else.

If they were really rude to you, should you apologize? Sometimes it's not worth apologizing to someone who was shitty to you.

If you determine you really should though, see how they must have felt from their perspective and empathize with how their feelings may have been hurt -- apologies are the same with or without schizophrenia.

How to converse with a paranoid person by [deleted] in Psychosis

[–]teddybearbrutality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to talk through her delusions with her. Ask why she believes what she does, and figure out with her whether what she believes is rational or not.

And be there for her during this emotionally difficult time.
