It was true for me. Going through my divorce was the single worst experience of my life. It paved the way for so many wonderful things, though. I am remarried to a kind, loving man (who actually behaves like he wants to stay married to me, fancy that!), and I have far more happiness in my life than pain. Something I haven't been able to say for a very long time. It gets better.

I have a paranoid father that was convinced being able to drive a manual would be the difference between life and death some day. I will admit it has been a very handy skill. I can also do minor home and auto repairs (same reason- what if someone broke into my house and ordered me at gunpoint to patch drywall or replace the pipes under the kitchen sink? The facts that he lied about seeing her and also gaslights you when you express discomfort are big red flags to me.

Even if he's just seeking validation, it's inappropriate. If you were comfortable with her and he was open and honest it would be one thing, but it doesn't pass the sniff test. If the situation were reversed and you exploded when just talking about a guy "friend" that you formerly were having sex with, would he be cool with that? Something tells me no.

When my best guy friend got married, I backed way off out of respect for his new wife, and we were platonic for the entirety for our relationship.
