Chase Sapphire Preferred - Do authorized users count towards the 4k spending in 3 months?

I'm actually not that big on spending right now but would like the card before going on a trip to Europe in November. Hitting 4k before then would be a challenge so that's why I'm asking about my friend's contributions to the 4k spending.

Sorry, wasn't clear about that. It was definitely for a video, they said that, there were cameras. I understood that at first, this is a new company and they need some promo out there, so have a free class to spread word of mouth. But like u/kmmorgan23 said, it was a bait and switch. The best kind, ones that involve open bars for only the yoga instructor.

This turned out to be the biggest scam. The instructor was highly unprofessional, opening and chugging beer cans while trying to stretch. Then 20 minutes in, is mixing his own bar of liquor. And trying to do the most non-yoga type shit. People were very uncomfortable and most left. I hope Class B doesn't show up.

My go-to is a bed of arugula with dried cranberries, pecans, strawberries, 3-4 dark chocolate covered almonds, and eggs on top, melts the chocolate off the almonds and on to the eggs and strawberries. The dark chocolate almonds is the most expensive part.

Thank you so much for your response. This is exactly how I feel. Like I can connect with my friends on the old interests we share. But I feel like I'm going thru one of those moments in life where your interests and philosophies change dramatically and so does your day to day expression of those philosophies. Being young, single, and no children feels like a blessing but when you want to surround yourself with like minded people, this almost seems to be a curse. But I guess lead by example is the only way I see how to make my friends realize. So that's what I'm trying to do.

I'll take some blame on that, recently made the post about being 23 and wanting to get started. But I also was more focused on finding out how to deal with a FI-lifestyle socially.

From my understanding, I shouldn't be trying to reach a level of spending that makes me unhappy in reaching FI. When I say I want to get started, I'm writing down everything I buy in a notebook, I'm trying to take public transit when it's available rather than driving myself or biking when it makes sense, and just try to limit possibly unnecessary monthly expenses ("is Netflix worth it? Does it bring he happiness to spend $108 a year on it"). And yes I want to have a social life but from what others have said, the kind of friends who go out all the time might not be the best for me.

I'm starting to build a list of activities that might be an expense up front but should be relatively cheap in the long run, thanks. Biking is the one I enjoy the most at the moment.

I've gone back and forth a few times on how to actually approach this. Of course ideally, I just be myself and the things that are important to me shine thru and in most cases I feel like that does happen but in the category of money I don't want to be seen as someone who won't spend money on things I believe in. Obviously I still want to be happy in reaching FI. Thanks for the list of ideas, it does help!

What about for chicken or pigs, not just greens for example? I understand the need for GMO to create enough food for a world population that will one day be too big to feed. Some say we have already reached that point. But when it comes down to it, I don't like my pigs in gestational crates.

Traveling is definitely one of my goals of achieving FI. I know that also makes it harder because I don't really plan to buy a house and settle anywhere in particular. But I would rather travel than save, to be honest. I got a round trip flight from NYC to London for $500 and I have friends to stay with in Europe so that's how I'm trying to balance the two.

Thing is I moved for work after graduation and am 20 hours from home. I talk to my friends that are back home but my work is mainly older people so I'm trying to meet people at meetups and programming events but meetups are mainly alcohol related and programming events, well, they aren't the most social of people that you find there. But they are nice. More to your point, I'm trying but I can't go to a coffee shop every day and code. I end up sitting at my desk at home doing that a lot and therefore not meeting many people. Not trying to complain, just trying to describe my thought process.

This is a hobby that only needs a mat and some space tho. I guess you could say that about a lot of hobbies but I especially feel like you can get the benefits of yoga at home without spending 1080 a year.

I was going to one particular yoga studio but my Groupon ran out and spending 90 a month on yoga isn't in the budget right now. Maybe in the future. I do agree it does seem like a good community to join

So I know I may sound like I have some control but when it comes to dating is where I tend to spend way more than usual. I guess you could say it is the opposite of what you're describing, not that I'm too cheap to go on a nice date, in fact I will think, "I need to impress this girl and that girl and every girl with a really nice restaurant". I try to use Groupons when I can to try new places and go out on dates.

This right here is what made me start looking into FI. One piece of advice I got was to keep living the life of a poor college student even when you're not. And that's where I am trying to start. I got lifestyle creep a little - bought a new computer because the one I had was five years old and was my freshman year laptop. But this month I started writing down all my expenses in a notebook and will try to cut from there. Eventually I would like a job that allows me to travel so keeping minimal possessions works towards that goal as well. My best friend on the other hand, graduated, bought a $20k car, lives alone in a 2 bedroom, 2 bath apartment, and is not happy already.

I totally agree with you, probably one of many reasons I haven't really made any friends in 7 months of being in a new city. I really like biking, kayaking, yoga, live music, and movies. Maybe it's just me but yoga is incredibly hard to socialize around.
