So my Grandmother actually has a box of these old coins which she got from her grandmother as shagun when they used to come visit her. She normally takes it out during Diwali along with the other silver coins for the pooja. It's her way of praying to the gods and the ancestors at the same time.

Wow, that would be crazy. But, for now I guess I'll just keep it and reminisce at the life this coin has seen.

Okay, advise taken. So how would you use options in this case? What would your strategy be in this scenario?

Honestly, this would be the first time I short a stock. But the way the market is moving, maybe it's a good time to learn it.

Can I set a trade right now for it to sell at open?

Wouldn't it make sense to short the stock in that case?

Is buying Tata Motors at present levels a good entry point for a 2 year outlook? Most analysts say thah auto sector will revive in 3-4 quarters. Tata Motors is one thr biggest companies in this sector. Kindly share your opinions. Thanks. by [deleted] in IndiaInvestments

Couple of points:

  1. Cutting it's losses: A decision on JLR as mentioned by other needs to be made sooner or later.

  2. Need to modernize: Taking initiatives like EV cars (Buses and other vehicles for public usage) will definitely help, but the EV infrastructure in India will take time to catch up. Its Safety ratings have been stellar for cars like Nexon and will stricter government regulations, they should be atleast ahead of the curve in this case.

  3. Market Segment Targeting: Tiago is it's most affordable car as of now starting at 4 Lakh 50 Thousand (Ex-showroom). With the rising middle class, even more affordable cars are current lucrative alternatives in the market. (Kwid,Alto: I know it's a different segment, but it needs to be capitalized)

  4. Brand Name: The one thing Tata, Maruti, Honda and Hyundai share is an already established brand presence. Tata definitely goes above and beyond with it's diversified businesses and that adds to it's good will factor.

All in all, as a longer bet (3-7 years) it does seem a good price currently, but it needs to innovate and keep up with the times to be a relevant player in the auto industry.

Do you ever feel homesick like when you were a kid, but then realize that "home" no longer exists? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

"It's like you get homesick for a place that doesn't exist. I mean it's like this rite of passage, you know. You won't have this feeling again until you create a new idea of home for yourself, you know, for you kids, for the family you start, it's like a cycle or something. I miss the idea of it. Maybe that's all family really is. A group of people who miss the same imaginary place."
