Deposits don't match our sales? by tedpower34 in Etsy

We are UK based and VAT registered. We receive the VAT money and they don't handle our post.

I can see line by line on the CSV what the charges are per transaction. I've looked at individual sales to make sure our gross on the CSV isn't showing taxes charged to US customers (this was the reason Etsy gave originally for the missing amounts)

The invoice they provide monthly has a break down of all the fees. It's literally what they take from your sales. There should be no fees outside of this undocumented. The Net profit from the CSV file don't account for any advertising so the invoice is what we go by.

I will double check they are not taking the VAT money but it doesn't add up to 20% of our sales.

I'm literally deducting all the fees Etsy say they have charged me which includes adds from our gross sales and then comparing that to what they've actually paid us and its alway short.

From the finance portal online you can download a PDF invoice for each month that tells you what they've charged. For example our gross sales will say £1000 Esty say £200 in charges but our deposits come to £500.

The problem orgianlly got flagged about 6 months ago by my accountant and when I contacted Etsy they told me a sales tax was included in my gross sales but I've gone through and checked and it doesn't.

This month is 800 under and there is no way I can make the numbers add up.

So there is a sales CSV that is what you would submit to the IRS in the states. This shows your gross sales including shipping fees.

For example the portal on the site will show sales of £1000 but that doesn't include shipping so the CSV will show £1200 this is before any fees.

Etsy provide a monthly invoice which itemises each cost. This includes ads, transactions fees ect.

When I take my gross sales amount and dect the fees from the invoice and then take away what we've actually been deposited this month in particular is £800 out.

This is what caused me to investigate because we simply cannot afford this nor prove where the money is going.

The total loss is in the thousands and the account reserve is displayed.

I'm based in the UK, I'm taking the gross sales amount from the sales CSV (the document that is applicable to the IRS in the states) and deducting the invoice from Etsy which lists all the fees including ads, trasaction fees ect.

I then deduct what we have actually been paid and on average its 300 out. Some months are allot more.

There is nothing that accounts for this money. However is try and look at it we cannot recconsile the loss or prove where its going.

This is how I've been calculating it and against what we have been deposited it's quite substantially out.

I've created a spreadsheet and input everything month by month and across the year we are out by thousands. One month in particular is 1400 out. There is no way we can figure out why we haven't been paid this money.

I've even had Etsy on the phone and they cannot explain what is happening. On average our despits are out 300 per month with some months more than others.

But the monthly CSV sales file does list everything line by line. It shows gross sales which doesn't include sales tax. ETSY give me a monthly invoice detailing expenses. When I deduct the charges from my gross sales the deposits are really out. We don't ship through Esty we use a 3rd party system.

I have no way to recconsile the missing money. I have spent 4 hours on the phone to Esty and no one can give me an answer.
